Carvings

What type of wood is that exquisite coffee cup? Excellent work!

It was just afirst attempt for a kuksa. But thanks for the nice words. I dug the piece of wood from out of a firewood pile up on Lake Michigan years ago so I'm not positive but fairly sure it was beech.

Man I miss that fiddleback terrasaur! But it looks like that Patch is working out for you real well Brian! How are you liking it so far?

The Mrs had her final surgery recently (WooHoo!! :) ) and I have been taking time off to care for her. I've had some extra time to good around with some whittling. I've found that after I removed the shoulder on the edge of my ED Karda, it makes a FANTASTIC carving knife. I have really been enjoying this little guy.

Carving these little guys has proved to be quite relaxing.

Final surgery - that's great news. EDK is an awesome design. Lovely bears you made. I agree 100% about the relaxing part. The pup looks quite pleased with your work. Thanks for posting these up.

Here is a video for a great tutorial on how to carve a bear character for those who are interested. This particular channel is one I enjoy and follow.

Schmittie... I saw the picture you posted in the User's Pic and it looked like a fun project. I started last night while watching TV and this little guy still needs a little more work. My first carving... Thanks for the video.
