Case Back Pocket.

I'll have to get one for sure if they make a CV model. It's about time I try out a big slip joint.

Is it just me or does the smooth ebony look like black micarta?

That is something in the scan. It looks like smooth wood in the catalog.

They are telling me it will be done in CV, that's my preference. Maybe soon. That should be a bad boy in CV.

Tony, While I too would prefer Case CV over Case SS, I would prefer 154CM over either.
I have the impression that you build almost exclusively in stainless. Do you use carbon steel in your handmade knives?
If Case were to only offer it in one steel, any steel, what would you like to see it in?

All three of those back pockets are gorgeous. I have to say I like the dark molasses bone the best, but it's a tough choice. Great profile to the front of that clip blade too.

From Case:

"BackPocket knives will be out in November; handle materials limited to Standard Jigged Dark Molasses Bone, Standard Jigged Dark Red Bone, and Smooth Ebony Wood to start. It looks like the MSRP for the bone versions will come in around $105, then Smooth Ebony Wood will be about another $10."

Forgot to ask about CV the first time around so I just asked.

Sounds great!

Any hint on if they will ever do CV?

Ebony for me.$115.00 is a bargain for a Bose/Case knife.Ebony is making a big comeback.

I missed a chance to look those over at the Blade Show this year :( dangit! No doubt they will be extremely popular.

As a side note, Case trademarked the "BackPocket" name for those knives.

Checked them out at blade. I'm definately getting one in stainless and CV when they come out.

Thanks for the info Mike!
The MSRP for the Chestnut Bone CV Swayback Jack is $104.
Thought that the comparison might help.

I like everything from Case in CV but that's not what the Case collectors want. They don't want to worry about rust.

As for myself, I occasionally make something in carbon steel. The knives I carry have CPM 440V blades in them.

These are showing up on a prominent vendor's site for $76.99. November delivery.

Case can trademark "BackPocket" all they want but the term is so generic and commonly used that they'd have a hard time backing it up in court.

The knife looks pretty good. Hopefully, they'll offer it in CV. Who knows -- maybe they'll even offer it as a lockback in time.

That is great news! Case needs more CV options for us country boys that don't worry about rust (and can't sharpen worth a damn). :D

A BP with CV would be a hit.
