I just got my shipping notice for the red barlow.Still waiting on the red barnboard I pre-ordered in August. I noticed that the '87 stockman in red barnboard is starting to ship from a couple vendors, so I'm hopeful that the barlow will come soon.
Me too!I just got my shipping notice for the red barlow.![]()
I believe the 87 stockman is one of them at least. I don’t think they made more than one or two examples of the rest of them lately, so maybe it’s the whole red barnboard set.Me too!
Did anyone figure out what the other patterns that re-entered production are?
I think Case builds what sells. CV/CS may be the preferred steel here on an enthusiast site, but I bet SS outsells carbon steel by by a considerable margin amongst the general population.
It’s really good. The main blade touches the liner when closed just barely but there’s no scratches from the blade rubbing, that’s the only fault I can find. It has strong walk and talk and the springs are flush when open and closed. I like it!Stunning example, Pat!
How's the FnF?
Awesome, glad to hear it.It’s really good. The main blade touches the liner when closed just barely but there’s no scratches from the blade rubbing, that’s the only fault I can find. It has strong walk and talk and the springs are flush when open and closed. I like it!
It is a pretty small shield. I have the purple one too and that one has just about perfect construction. The red one is similar minus the blade centering. I’m probably going to get rid of the blade etch on the red one eventually. I hope there are more barlows coming and I hope they’re built just as well as these.Awesome, glad to hear it.
I picked up the purple one and FnF was a bit better then I anticipated. Maybe Case is stepping it up a bit.
My only minor gripe with the purple version is that the shield is almost comically petite.
That’s good information, I might have to try that thank you!Pat, if you want to center the blade try this method. Just used it on the Case SB I got today and I’ve used it on several Case knives and its worked every time. I know it sounds kind a weird but it works!
Just make sure you use the plastic side of the hammer! I made that mistake onceThat’s good information, I might have to try that thank you!
I can imagine, thanks Dan.Just make sure you use the plastic side of the hammer! I made that mistake once.
That and take your time. It’s sometimes a slow process.I can imagine, thanks Dan.![]()
Mine was an excellent one!Nice examples everyone… I may have to snag a purple bone if they as good as you are saying.
Just a side of caution...'crinking' may work well with Rough Ryders and Cases....but not all knives. This works if the ricasso of the blade is properly annealed. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell unless you know how they were made or anneal it yourself.Pat, if you want to center the blade try this method.
