Case Barlow is back

euroken euroken that looks like it was a nasty surprise! Bummer!

It's possibly the lighting, but mine looks a little lighter in color than the examples of pat9198 pat9198 or GPO MAN GPO MAN . I'll have to try getting some better photos. The fit & finish is excellent with two very small caveats. Both blades had burrs that took a little more effort to sharpen out than I expected. Also, if I squint really, really hard I get a headache. And I notice a gap in the springs/liners.

Those are relatively minor issues though. If I had to make the decision again, I wouldn't hesitate. It's a great knife.

I have both the red and purple barnboard. I was quite pleased with the fit and finish. Can't say I am too keen on the billboard main blade on the red. I heard that the barlow will be the 2024 vault pattern. I think that seems unlikely as it was just the vault pattern not too long ago and they've released 2 at the end of 2023, but you never know I guess.

This requires multiple responses.
Just a side of caution...'crinking' may work well with Rough Ryders and Cases....but not all knives. This works if the ricasso of the blade is properly annealed. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell unless you know how they were made or anneal it yourself.

This is a result of 'one' hit with a plastic mallet. I have been successful with other attempts of crinking but in this scenario...not so much...

It is an older knife but the secondary *sheepsfoot" was rubbing badly on one side. So I took it upon myself to attempt crinking and voila! This is now a single blade that is with someone else as a part of the trade...

Sorry to derail the thread but wanted to share....

And my Case barlow contribution...

That was fast, I ordered the blue barlow yesterday and it just came in.

Fit and finish is almost perfect. No gaps, blades centered nicely, and the action is firm and snappy. There is only a little wobble of the blades when opened but that doesn’t matter to me, I’m just being fair and honest is all. The blue bone is beautiful, Case built an excellent example with this one!

A thing of beauty, I like it very much.

I really really wanted the bone Gray CS Barlow.. And I am most certainly not a picky person..
BUT.... I aint sure I can accept that TINY sheild?!?!
Maybe if I get one in my hands and look past it if the bone color draws away from it???

I can see one in your future. 🤣 But seriously, the shield sort of blends right in with the rest of the knife, and the pocket worn finish is nice. I like it more than I thought I would. 👍
