Case Bose collaboration 2014 Lock Back Wharncliffe Whittler

I just got mine yesterday and took a few cell phone photos. I'm really pleased with this ebony handled beauty. It's as close to perfect as I've seen in any knife, even considering the complexity of the pattern. Blades are all sharpened nicely, great grinds and swedges, no wobble, no gaps. The pull is 5 to 6 on the secondaries and I can pinch the main blade at a 5, although it's a bit easier using the nail nick. This one is a winner and it's going right in my pocket.
Congrats to Case and Tony Bose for a great collaboration!

Just so folks can find info on this knife in one spot, I'm going to merge this with an earlier thread.

While this pattern just never really caught my eye, there is no denying the execution and build quality leave little room for improvement. Very nice knife!

What a beauty Gary - you picked well with the ebony - I would have wanted it the most in this release.:thumbup:;)

Thanks guys. I'm really happy with it. I agree Primble, I think the ebony is right for this one.

A super knife, Gary! Just beautifully done and a pattern favorite of mine. It just has everything going for it:D

An impressive piece of construction and the smoothness of the Ebony lends itself to the matte steel very well. A very complicated knife that is obviously going to be expensive, but too expensive for me unfortunately.

Thanks Gev. One of my favorites too.

I can't stop staring at it. The shield really sets it off, and the grinds are perfect.

I can't find anything wrong with this one, Mark. I do like the shield too.

Will, I do like the contrast between the brushed stainless and ebony. It was pricey for me Will. I only buy a couple of knives a year now and I sold a few to fund this one.

Very nice Gary, a difficult pattern to make correctly.

Thanks Jerry. Kerry Hampton posted earlier in this thread, "Tony says this is the most difficult knife that he makes".

that ebony is class, you couldn't ask for better! are you going to use it? I used mine last week and found it easily carried and bloody sharp!

It's in my pocket right now and carries pretty comfortably. The blades are nice and sharp and I do plan to use it regularly. It'll give me an excuse to whittle more often too!

Peregrin -
What is the thickness of the main blade at the pivot area?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave, That dimension is 3/16". The width of the knife at it's widest is 1/2", closed length is 3 7/8". My scale shows it weighing in at 2.9 oz. It's a hefty knife but carries well in my opinion.

So tempted. I still regret selling my old lockback whittler collab. The wharny makes this thing so much darn cooler!

I have been admiring this knife lately. It is beautiful to say the least. I am curious though, is the original pattern 3 springs or is it split? The last time this pattern was done as a colab it had a clip blade, was that one split spring or 3?

Here's a pic of the knife. One lockback spring for the main and separate short springs for the small clip and curved pen. This is the 2014 Wharncliffe, the 2005 Clip has the same construction.
