Case knives? Really that popular?

They're generally very easy to get here in the US at least, but sometimes exclusives will sell out quickly.
If you're only gonna be going after specials and stuff you may occasionally run into problems, but the majority of their offerings can be taken for granted.
The stuff that is desired by the average knife user rarely ever seems go go out of stock anywhere, and even when they do " limited " special runs they tend to be " limited " to quite a large number a do multiple runs at that.

I don't recall ever having trouble getting a Case knife I wanted unless I was a number of years too late.

Oh and it will just be a regular production knife with an etch. No special slabs or shields need apply.
I think their Barlow actually could be a good candidate for this, though if voting I can imagine many people wanting the seahorse whittler or sowbelly.

I truly think it would be a good idea if only Case didn't work in higher volumes than this order would be.
With a special cover material and a nice bolster stamp.
It could be a nice knife that people would like, plus you wouldn't have the GEC scalpers swooping in, and nobody could really complain about a high pricetag or something.
I know it wouldn't be as nice as a GEC but Case seems pretty consistent with their Barlow's, it would have a less consistent edge grind than a GEC but it would be sharper out of the wrap.

It's never going to happen for many reasons but I like the idea.

I've noticed case purchases have been on the incline. There's a display at my local sporting goods store that have collected dust as people were more interested in the benchmade display case, now after my last couple visits all the cv slimline trappers including the kind of wobbly display piece sold out, all the peanuts including the display are gone, whether this trend will stay or die down again it was interesting and nice to see all the same

I just bought the smokey mountain knife works exclusive pbj trapper. Soon after I bought it they were completely out of stock again. So I guess I got lucky. Are case knives a high demand brand? It's my first case knife so if I like it I guess I need to know how difficult their knives are to come by. I guess I never thought about traditional folders being in high demand.
With the demise of Schrade, Camillus, Utica, Marbles, and others, Case is one of the last US traditional knife manufacturers left. And is possibly the only one left with really wide distribution. So if you want a traditional pattern pocket knife that's made in the US, it's pretty much going to be Case. Lot of folks like traditional knives. They are seldom mistaken as weapons. And they are what fathers and grandfathers carried. So there is still a good demand for them.

As others have mentioned, there's a difference between finding "a Case knife" vs. a "specific Case model". Case knives in general are reasonably easy to come by. If you want something specific, you may need to put on your Sherlock Holmes outfit.

So is what I bought a high demand case? Not entirely sure what I lucked into.

"Exclusives" or Special Factory Orders (SFOs) can be high demand items. Some collectors focus in on a pattern and determine to have every variation. And Trappers are a popular pattern in and of themselves.

This in a nutshell. Add the boost in patriotism. A traditional Case is considered more "normal".

And there's Grandaddy...

Thousands of older Case Knives floating around out there, but you will have to hit the antique malls, curio shops, flea markets, guns shops, pawn shops on a semi-regular basis to find nice condition used ones buried in with the junk. However, given enough stops over an extended period of time you will be surprised how many nice old Case Knives you will find. Carried this 1979 Senator to my daughters special needs prom this past Friday evening. OH

No one in my family carried a Case, so I didn't grow up a Case fan. They hold an undeniable cachet though, so much so that I've been searching for my Case knife for a while. I think I've found her and she's currently with the USPS. This despite the fact that GEC is the brand most in vogue, and I have a few of those already.

There's just something about a Case.

I'll share pics once I get it GT. It took a while, but patience really did end up a virtue. Good thing most Case knives don't do anything for me because this one cost numerous pretty pennies.

This is my current love affair. Is it only a quick tryst? Something more serious? Only time will tell. The feelings are too new to make a rational decision.

On a more serious note, I haven't met a 1970s case that wasn't awesome... So maybe they're worth a look as well! I've only had a few, mind you, but they've been very nice.

Ha, what? Respectfully, Case knives have been popular and having a huge following most likely since before you were born. Even today, some limited run models sell out quickly, especially when in a desirable colorway/material.
