Recommendation? Case large stockman

Very nice! Are these current production knives? Lance

I believe they are an exclusive for the dealer, if I’m not mistaken. The covers are Smokey Valley Sunset Autumn Bone. I saw one here and had to have one

I love the '75 large stockman pattern - I have two, maybe three. I bought a stainless in purple jigged bone which has been a great user, and have a CV Amber Jigged still new. I might have bought one in yellow Delrin, not sure. Maybe I am thinking about a '47 Stockman which I definitely have a yellow Delrin version of.

I just ordered one of those

It took a while to arrive, but worth it. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Mine is intended to be a user. There was a little rub on the main, and on the wharncliffe. I’d have sent it back if I intended to put it in the safe for collection, but as a user it doesn’t bother me. Patina will cover it right up. Oddly enough, the spacing of all the blades is very nice. I still can’t quite tell how they’re rubbing.

Case tends to use thinner blade stock on their stockmans. When opening say the clip blade, most people put side pressure at/on the nail nick causing the blade to rub against the sheepfoot blade thus causing some scratching on either or both blades. Not really a warranty issue for Case as they don't see it as a mechanical problem. Over the years, I've had a couple knives stating just that returned from Case with no replacement - just a repolish.

Interesting, I had never considered that. It could very well be that I did it the first time I opened the blades. I’ll have to start paying more attention when I open my knives, I’m curious how my hand naturally opens them. Thanks for the info!

I think Case bone is jigged before it is mounted on the knife, so they have buff or sand it down to meet the bolsters. Some custom makers jig the bone on the knife, if I understand correctly. They can jig right down to the bolsters.
