Just got this one in the mail yesterday. I like it but I'm not impressed with side to side blade wobble and the blade touching the liner when closed. I guess as long as it's not affecting use I'll just use it and not worry about it.

This is my first knife in Case CV.

I sure hope this level of F&F is a fluke as I really have my heart set on one of these.
Did you buy it new or used? Any chance of sending it in to Case?

The side to side is not a big deal to fix. The blade probably got warped when the stamp was struck. I have the same knife minus the inscriptions and the F&F is really nice. If you have hang ups about it, contact Case or the dealer.

God Bless

The Rounded edges are due to tumbling the blades. All their new knives are like that. Send it back for a replacement and you may get a tighter blade, or send it to Case. They'll fix it for you.

I have to say that if they did the engraving then they should not have picked out such a poor example in the first place. Of course, if you do use that knife the cv will patina and the engraving vanish...better on stainless.

you need to get it right, if you are not happy with it you never will be and its inexusable that they pulled that to even engrave, none of my case have any wobble. in an old knife i can look past that but not in a new one...
send it back and get ya a good one, cause the sodbuster is a helluva knife, one of my favorites for sure. The engraving looks good though, shame they couldnt get it on a good soddie.
best of luck

I wonder it the knife might have gotten messed up in the engraving process?

I doubt it, unless the operator was really incompetent...but even so, they should not send out a knife like that, creates a bad impression both of them and the knife in question.

I hope you get this sorted to your satisfaction.

I have one, and it has the exact same "issue" with the blade. But, it works like a champ and doesn't bother me. Just know that yours isn't the only one.

he stated off center blade and wobble, off center a bit when closed is one thing, lateral blade play is another... especially given the fact that he went and had the knife personalized...

Yep, I totally agree.
Off center is a personal preference thing.
Side to side wobble is a no-no that should surely be fixed.

David Lowry,

Call W.R. Case's CS department and tell them all of what your issues are, then send it back as they instruct and they will typically bend over backwards to try and make you happy.. I have never been disappointed in they're repairs/reworks over the 5-6 times I have used them in the last 25+ years.

This one would also likely qualify to have the shipping paid both ways as well.

BTW, I really like the knife with the engraving.

Please let us know how you do if you follow the aforementioned advise.

Best,
Anthony

I had a lumpy tang on that mini hunter I have. It wasn't smooth opening and closing. They made it perfect. They will ask you if the knife has sentimental value. Say yes or they will replace the knife. I had this happen to me with a large swing guard hunter in stag. It had a broken backspring. They said it couldn't be fixed.( I almost think someone there wanted it). They gave me a large coke bottle that I hated in return.
