The haters in this thread were not hating then. Heck no, they were tripping over each others feet to get one of these. They're available today on the internet but it's gonna cost ya if ya want one.

Not my pictures.

I pulled the trigger on one of these trappers and have it hand now. I have to say, I'm very pleased with it. I actually find the punched nail nicks very functional and kind of like the novelty. I hope Case keeps putting out traditional patterns in S35VN, even if all future iterations have the punched nicks. I'm very curious to see how the steel handles since I've never owned S35VN.

I have a knife in S35VN. It’s a good stainless. I am not great at sharpening so it’s not as easy for me as 1095 or soft stainless like victorinox or Mora, but I can get it sharp. It definitely keeps an edge longer than my preferred stainlesses. Very functional.

I wonder how hard case heat treats these? I’m one of the few that prefers them softer (see mediocre sharpening skills above)

Enjoy the knife!

My hunch, going purely by the sound and feel on my sharpening stones, is 58-59ish give a point in either direction. The thing that stood out to me when I was sharpening(other than the really good edge grind)was that the secondaries felt/sounded almost exactly the same on the stones and the main was maybe 1-2 points lower hrc. Burr removal on all three was a breeze, none of that burr flopping from side to side crap that plagues steels tempered too soft. The uniformity of the three blades makes me think their s35vn HT is pretty dialed in.

Like 3 holes in yer pocket !
I vote nay. :thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:😴

I told my friend just yesterday, that if GEC had done it, say for a Northwoods version, people would have loved it.

I think it looks pretty good.
I tried it when you asked, but it was quite uncomfortable and I gave up on it... went back to the thumb nail.

It does seem like the holes might be handier on a knife that you could pinch open with a finger on either side of the hole.

Thank you, Bart. :)

I love single blade Trappers, and dream about doing a blade delete, which would make what you're talking about possible... but given the price that people charge to do blade deletes, I could buy another knife.

I've never been a big fan of the aesthetics of trappers, and I love stockman. Somehow the Scagel holes on the stockman don't really work for me, but dang, that trapper JohnDF JohnDF posted looks really good. And finally, traditional knives, with pinned construction, and modern steel! This is going on the list for sure. Hope to see more of these posted, here and in the Totin thread.

Because everyone knows that this is the first time ANY knife company has sent out a blade that needed some tip work. I reiterate myself by saying that if these were from the mind of Bill Howard we'd be hearing nothing short of him being the savior of the modern world, and then seeing them crop up on the exchange for 6 times the retail price.

GEC miracles.

When does yours arrive? Looking forward to pictures. :thumbsup:
