Case Tony Bose Collabs pic and discussion thread.

Tempting on that bullnose. Insane price for a knife of that caliber. ;)

It seems to me that it is very hard to sell knives these days; not just the collaborations, but across the board. It makes people much less likely to pull the trigger, because you are probably going to take a bath if you decide to move it along for some reason. I know that I have become much more selective about what I buy. I miss the days when you could try out lots of different knives on a whim knowing that you could fairly easily get most of all of your money back if you didn’t like it.

Regardless, that Bullnose is a great deal, just too big for me. I believe the collaborations will hold their value over the long haul, because no more will be made. Plus, they are incredibly nice knives with a pattern to suit everyone’s tastes. The Lanny’s Clip is one of my favorites…!

King of the Cheese King of the Cheese , I rarely see the black micarta version. If I do, I will give you a heads up. It is true that you have to do due diligence on the collabs to make sure your expectations are met.

I can’t seem to find a decent black micarta lockback Lanny for the life of me. I had to send one back for having a messed up grind.

Well, here are the results of my dye job. This was a Chestnut bone premium stockman. It had really kinda ugly, lifeless orange pinkish bone. I used Fiebings oil based leather dye. First round was show brown. Second round was chocolate brown. I think for the most part it turned out pretty dang good. Whaddya guys think?

Looks good what was the process did you just paint it on and let it sit?

Is the color variation you have the result of the difference between the two brown dyes you used? Or are we still seeing remnants of the chestnut color underneath the Fiebings dyes?

Really love the result!

I would say it's a variation of all 3 dyes blended. The Case Chestnut, show brown and dark chocolate. Your just blending the colors to create a new color. Like crayons!

So the newer dyes aren't just topographical. They are soaked into the bone. I suspect not as well as doing it from scratch since there may be a little less of the dye taking due to Case buffing the snot out of the covers.

Couldn't resist the recent sale on the Bullnose Trapper, so took the plunge. I'm so glad I did -- the quality is amazing! Beautiful dark ebony, superb fit and finish -- not even a micro-gap in the springs -- and built like a tank. This one will definitely be seeing some trail time.
