Not very often i spend 340 on a pocket knife. If I were Tony Bose I would no longer be buddies with Case. And the dealer said he checked it and found no problems. must be blind or ignorant or just an a--hole. tight blade when open is all it has going for it, sloppy when closed. Uneven sides, burrs all over the liners, can easily slip paper between the liner and cover, way uneven lockbar notch, encentered when closed, course grit sanded cross grain and called it good, looks like it was dropped on the bolster.. HAHA!! heres just a few pictures of my prized, brand new case/bose wilfred. dealer inspected and only $340.00 shipped.

You know, it actually looks like it was dropped, or maybe caught in something.

If it was dropped/hit hard enough on the bolster it may have warped the knife and that would explain the un-centered blade, gaps, and other dimensional problems. Those cross-grain scratches might have been from the same accident.

It probably got smashed in or by something.

He even assured me it wasnt a return. Told him all I wanted was a tight, centered blade and clean fit and finish.....he"looked at the knife and found no problems" o_O:poop: look at the nice even covers. That shiny spot in the bolster pic is probably from tossing it
in a five gallon bucket with the other 199 they made in ebony. There wasnt even a finish of any kind on the covers.

looks like the spring pin is turning since i got it an hour ago. I was thinking of just using it but if its gonna be a complete pile of junk ill have to send it back. At this point i dont trust the dealer one bit so it has to go back to the fine cutlers at case i guess. what a complete drag and rip off!!

It is possible to was dropped, but how many floors would it have to fall to suffer that kind of damage?
I've seen slipjoint pocket knives that were accidentally dropped from the roof of a two story building onto concrete. They were not damaged anywhere close to affecting blade alignment or to cause gaps like that, even if they landed on the tip of an open blade. (One with a clip point blade did break the tip)
It would have to land on something a heck of a lot harder than concrete, too.
I'd send it back. Heck, I've never gotten even a Rough Rider with gaps that bad or with such a poorly centered blade.

Ouch, I feel your pain. My ebony Wilfred was promptly returned for mostly cosmetic issues with the poorly finished covers and bolsters. Replaced it with a stag bone that was very nice except I gave it a nice dye job for personal likes.

I'd be more ticked at the dealer for sending me that knife than Case Bose. It's bad enough if it left the factory looking like that but then to get by the dealer who you asked to look it over? Not a good look. Ive had outstanding experiences with Case Bose warranty. I would just advise that if you decide to keep it and send it in then fill out the warranty form with all your concerns, be polite and they will get you fixed up. They just recently took a pretty beat up and roughly finished eureka in for me and turned it into a near custom quality piece. Didn't charge me a dime for the end user blemishes I asked them to fix either.

back to the dealer that lied to me or case, y'all think? what can case do? make a new one? rip this one apart? if the blade was not so bad the spring pin i would just do a bit of sanding and call it good

Thats what ill do. I dont even want to think about trading for another with the dealer. Thanks

I read about yours...was almost thinking i got the one you sent back. Possible!?

Wow that would be pretty bad for a production piece, much less a Bose! It needs to go back to either the dealer or Case for sure.

I had one of these in brown bone. I had a fella who worked for a dealer pick one out. To me is was spot on,like a custom . I traded it to a friend.

I missed it. I bought another, had the dealer pick one out.
It came in today. It is ,once again,so spot on,that I can't believe when I hear the bum luck like the OP has with his pick.

I will post pics in this forum, I say with any knife, you are bound to have better and worse/bad. It's just part of the game. Sorry to hear of your trouble ,but you can send it back right ?

Called the dealer and was told not to bother even sending pictures as the knife was perfect when he looked at it. I told him it was close out of the box but wouldnt close completely so i washed it out with soap and water. He claims that since i worked on it(with soap and water) there is nothing he can do. Not to honest of a man even though he loaded the box with religious literature. I myself am a believer, but have seen more dishonest people hiding behind the bible than not.

Makes my stomach turn to hear such things.

It's totally possible that the ebony moved, and or soaked up the epoxy so hard that when it did move,it broke the bond. I would not go to the dealer then,I'd call Case ,or just send it to them with a hand written letter. I bet they will do right by that. I do not see how they wouldn't

I can push the blade to center. was there movement in yours when closed?

What is the protocol on outing this dealer? I’m new to the porch and pretty new to collecting in general and I’d like to avoid this dealer...
