I hope to get the knife back in better shape than when i got it.. it sure had a killer snap..

Stuff like this is one of the reason I do my expensive buying off the exchange usually honest and describe and picture the items as they are. Have got two XM-18s and a Case/Bose off BF and all have been perfect and like new just as they said they are

"Sooner state knives" if any wants to defend them save your word because I don't care to read it. I buy to many knives I'm sure, and most dealers are just plain great folks. This is the exception

The issue with the knife does not look good, but you are going to get peoples opinion whether you like it or not when you post in a public forum.

I think you did the right thing by sending it to CASE, if you get a dealer who refuses to take back defective knives and appears to misrepresent their condition, well you could send it back and get nothing in return.....

I've had dealings with the said place, no problems but I got a ton of religious tracts that I certainly didn't care for. A lot of people hide behind organized religions to cover their real behaviours, as man thinks, so he truly is.

I had been eyeballing that particular blade for a while on SSK but never pulled the trigger due to size of it. It's a bummer to hear about your experience but chalk it up as a lesson learned and this is a dealer I'll never do business with from this point on

One more thing. I wash all my new knives in soap and water.. I've had a lot of GEC knives come new out of center, then wash them out and they are perfect! Doesn't everyone wash out a new knife?

Why would you wash a brand new $350 knife? You instantly make it not-returnable to the dealer. It cannot be resold as new. No wonder why he denied your request.

If I cut up a chicken with my pocket knife, it gets a soap and water cleaning. But it's gentle and occurs long after I decided the knife was good enough to keep. I get some soap on my hands, fondle the knife, build up a lather and immediately rinse it well, followed by a good drying inside and out with a paper towel. Then into the pocket where body heat finishes the drying.

Ebony, like any wood, will absorb water, which can cause the scale to swell and create gaps. They will go away as the wood dries out unless it swelled enough to form a crack. My ebony knife covers will change just a little with the humidity. In summer they are perfect and in winter there is an almost imperceptible lip where the ebony has shrunk a tiny bit past the liner.

I also purchased a Case Bose Wilfred from Kenny at SS knives. It had issues, he gladly accepted it as a return, didn't say one thing other than he would refund my money. I said whoa big daddy why don't we try the Brown jigged Bone. He sent it USPS Priority just like the first. (I also sent the return knife back USPS Priority) The replacement was much better but not perfect and I by no means hold that against the seller. He can't possibly know the customer is going to shove paper between the liner and the covers not in his realm of things to check. The blade movement from center to side when stowed is poor tolerance between the bushing and the blade tang hole the bushing sits in. Again not his fault. I like SS knives always got fair shake from him.
Currently eyeballing a 2015 Cattle knife on his site.

I met him at a show and got a great deal on a HK Parker premium pearl slipjoint. He was good to me.

My lady bought my Tribal Spear from him as a birthday/Xmas/anniversary present. I just asked her how things went and she said all was well but she's always had good experiences buying knives for me :)

because it wouldnt close on its own. I barely washed it. I was going to keep it and smooth it out myself, but after i washed out the pivot the action woke up and the blade chose to close against the liner. Im done bitching about it. case will have it by weeks end. were all human, Im sure he's a great guy
