Cast Away Style, All Time, Desert Island Fixed Blade Choice

....I also forgot the magic teleportation device that somehow took my knives off me and beamed me to No Knife Island. I'm sure it could beam me back.

Anyhoo, is the island covered in edible mushrooms? If so I'd want an Opinel mushroom knife.

A friend of mine is a pretty diehard morel guy so I got him one of these prior to this season - late April/early May around here. He loved it.

He let his brother and a friend of his try it out and they both ended getting one. This went on for a bit. Eventually there were 6 people who ended up with one of these. The bristles (boar?) work particularly well for getting dirt and critters out of the nooks and crannies of the mushrooms.

On topic, I think I'd bring a nice pair of garden shears. Lotta free time all by my lonesome, I think I'd like to work on my topiary skills.

Ahhhh, ok. Is there a secret handshake too? LOL

Yes. Nothing special about the handshake, just look at the other persons eyes. Does he look like someone who has recently been yelled at by his significant other, for spending money on pricey knives?

The reason for all the abreviation is that the company makes tons of models. Usually short releases, then moves on. It is tough to follow, but much tougher to type out the full names of all the random models.

Well, I saw a few minutes of a show called The Island the other night, hosted by none other than the esteemed TV survival luminary Bear Grylls, and the folks stranded on the titular (I love that word) island were all decked out in various "BG" gear. None of them died while carrying such stuff, so I'm clearly best served by whatever Bear Grylls sharp and/or pointy product I can get my hands on.

Hmph...we have never discussed this scenario before...let me think about it for a minute.

Got it.

More than one knife, a ferrocerium rod, gps, a satphone, and some beer.

I think you forgot nachos...

I'm glad i'm not the only one who doesn't immediately try and conceptualize what I would need for an awesome month of vacation. I think some lechon asado and a fridge would go a long way in a scenario like this.

I think a nice thin slicer would work wonders on the pork.

Another bk9 vote. The bk9 would be a morale boost because i dont have one and i would be happy about the new knife. I wouldnt want to be trying to sharpen 3V with marginable sharpening materials. Ill stick with some nice 1095 :D

I have a Esee Junglas and a Bk-9 I would definitely take my Esee. For me it's better for shelter building seems to chop and lop a little better. But that's just me.

, i would take this knife because it is made for this kind of raw abusive work, and it is easy to sharpen 5160, full tang, and while large at 28 oz, still agile enough to do finer tasks. a win/win blade.

Fusion Battle Mistress Limited Edition. It is the shiny one.

The top is a KZII, the Grey one is the Basic 11
You beat me to it...INFI all the way!

I agree with your FBM choice all the way...well either that or my Ban'd AK-47 - I think it would be great for grasses, denser vegetation, coconuts, pirates, and probably even zombie pirates 😉

But whatever it is, it has to be INFI!

Oh and that hand-shaped FBMLE is delicious! 😎👍

I'm with you guys on the infi thing.... soooo easy to maintain! I'm also with you on the FBM! The Battle Mistress would be my choice, hands down! PLUS, you'd have some darn good stories to tell on the Busse forums!

Nuclear meltdown fusion steelheartergo, .39" thick, or perhaps a choilless straight handle battle mistress or basic 10LE

Either the camp 10 or 18

That little liner lock Buck knife, 3rd from the top on the right.

I have one of those, has a lot of use on it. I bought it right before I deployed to Bosnia in '95. Carried it the whole time I was there, and for a long time afterward.

It's retired now, but has some memories attached to it.
