Cast Away Style, All Time, Desert Island Fixed Blade Choice

That little liner lock Buck knife, 3rd from the top on the right.

I have one of those, has a lot of use on it. I bought it right before I deployed to Bosnia in '95. Carried it the whole time I was there, and for a long time afterward.

It's retired now, but has some memories attached to it.

Same here, that one has skinned and processed more game than you can imagine. It's been a great blade.

I believe it. I used mine for everything, and it was my only EDC for about 4 years. It was also my first liner lock. This was before I became a knife nut. Unfortunately mine has developed some pretty bad blade play, and I don't have a tool to tighten the pivot.

You can make a tool to tighten it with a paper clip. Can't remember if it was a standard size or jumbo. Cut one of the U shaped sections out and tweak it a bit to match the distance between the holes on the pivot screw.

Thanks for the advise, I'll try it.

I think we've hijacked this thread enough though. LOL

I bought one when they were first released. Carried it for years. I have cut my self a few times when the lock failed. I stopped using it when my older brother severed the tendon in his right thumb with his. Surgery and a cast, and luckily his hand still works.

My little boys have played with it for years after I ground the edge and point off.
