Well, sometimes you just wake up in the morning in the state of Missouri and want to drive to the state of Tennessee. Well, here ya go, about a 900 mile drive over the weekend. Left Friday night at 5:00PM and arrived at Lodge in Pittsburg, TN about 9:30 Saturday morning. I camped Friday night at a private campground near Clarksville, TN and Saturday night at Old stone Fort Archeological State Park not too far from Lodge. Your better off buying any Lodge cast iron in person. The quality (QC) varies in the "looks" department but it will all work. If you want one that is pretty see it in person first. I did make the side trip to Lynchburg...could not fit in the trip to Benton's. Had some possible weather coming in Saturday in the higher elevations and I didn't want to risk it...had to be home Sunday. Here ya go, pics of Lodge and Pittsburg TN...

Saved this little guy from my moms box to goodwill over the holidays. Oiled up and ready to cook! Looked up the stamp and it's from the 1930s or 40s most likely. Wasn't produced afer the 40s.

My wife tried a new marinade on some back strap from this fall's harvest.
Then she sliced it up with the Becker/ESEE chef's knife, and fried it up in the Lodge skillet.

It was tender enough to cut with a plastic fork.

Has anyone ever noticed that Lynchburg TN is about 70 miles from South Pittsburg, TN and South Pittsburg, TN is about 110 miles from Madisonville, TN?

In other words Jack Daniel's Distillery, Lodge Cast Iron Mfg. and Benton's are pretty close to one another?

I feel a road trip coming on! I need Becker content...I always use my 16 to cut the vittles up, always use some Jack to season things....it works great....always Lodge cast iron. Great American products.

I went to the distillery about 30 years ago on a motorcycle trip not old enough to drink!! Here is a picture...much fatter now!:

My transportation to the distillery 30 years ago....think this is near Nashville? Honda CX500 probably 84 model, can't remember.

If you guys have never been to the Jack Daniels World Championship (Invitational) BBQ, it's worth the trip in October.

Grilled chicken on the Lodge Sportsman tonight.

Made myself some breakfast for dinner!

Started with a cubed russet potatoe in bacon fat

The trick is to let them sit for a good while with the lid on, this helps cook them through quicker. Once I turn them I season with salt pepper, garlic, onion, and chives

Once the taters are cooked I put them in the oven to keep warm and start in on the eggs, I added about a tablespoon of butter to the leftover bacon fat from the taters for 1/2 dozen eggs

Once that's done I made bacon toast, two big 'ole pieces of sheepherders bread in bacon fat
