I ordered a set of Case 'Blue Scroll' knives
from Ed that he said was mint, I picked them up on Saturday the 16th and within 1 hour I
e-mailed him and told him that the knives were not mint and they look like they are not a set but knives as he picked them up. Some are sun bleched out almost white on one side
and the 11 1/2 model has about 1/8 inch of blade play, three have cracks. I have e-maild him every day and he will not respond, I even posted in his post to e-mail me, still no response. Looks like I now own an $850. set of knives that are worth about $400.
Thanks for your time. David Akers

Hi David,

You are protected by the US Consumer Protection Act. Which basically states you have 3 business days to return anything bought sight unseen through the mail.

Also, you can go to your local post office and file a complaint. Selling something through the mail that does not meet the description is considered mail fraud.

Mail fraud is a Federal Felony!

So contact your local post office, get the forms, fill them out and return them. It may take a while. However, once the Postal Inspectors are visiting with LYFSFUN, it will no longer be fun.

Also, send a certified letter to Mike Turber asking that LYFSFUN asking for LYFSFUN's personal information as you will be taking legal action against him.

It will be a lot of work, but surely it's worth $800.00.

Once you have completed all this, post the results here. This will "encourage" others to be honest in their dealings here.

Season's greetings friends. I have dealt with Edward more than once and I have never had a problem with the knives he sent. Hope everything works out for the best.

Stuff like this makes me sad

I have traded with Ed before and everything was exactly as advertised and shipped promptly. I would deal with him again, no problem.

I would deal with him again also. Matter of fact, we have a deal going soon.

Don't forget that Jesus is the reason for the season. Merry CHRISTmas!

Les, it sounds like you are assuming LYFSFUN is in the wrong here. Although it is true that the Postal Service offers protection from fraud, they do not like false claims either. It is a fairly long and drawn out process and I think both parties involved would be better served to work it out between themselves. There is always two sides to every story.

In Ed's defense, I have had dealings with him and everything was done as per each of our wishes. I would not hesitate to deal with him again. In my mind his honesty, credibility is in tact.

Ed is an above board guy and I am sure that all was done in good faith.

Hi RDNZL,

Actually, I am not taking any side. There are two sides to every story. However, I do tire of blade forum members who come on the forums and complain about how they have no recourse.

Consequently, my post was put there to inform people who read this forum to understand you have rights.

The other side of the coin is that the "truth " is not always what is written. If the individual is not willing to contact the post office or file a complaint offically. Generally this indicates a "flaw" in their story.

So I guess the message to my post was, either take action or stop complaining. Only you can truly make yourself a victim.

I don't know either side of this discussion, but I will add this:

When you come into this forum, the message from the management is "use as a last resort". That is not a statement which needs interpretation.

I also have had dealings with Ed, and find him to be straight up guy. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him at all.

never dealt with ed...but i read this forum all the time and this is the FIRST time I have ever seen anyone say anything bad about him...which makes me wonder why!?

LYFSFUN is clearly a DEALER motivated by profit. That is a warning flag by itself. You are entitled to your money back if this man has any decency!

Strider, I buy my knives mostly from dealers. These are folks that hang around the DEALER arena and identify themselves as such. My best transactions are with dealers. To me it's worth the extra $$ to get something that's not overgraded. My view is that where you see a lot of knife churning on the "non dealer" sale boards, it hints at a profit motive that may possibly lead to occasional overgrading. Just my $0.02.

Most dealers are trying to make money which is usually why one becomes a dealer. Why is that a warning flag? How do you buy your knives direct from the factory? Now I won't comment on whats going on here but I do wonder about the tone of your post immediatly assuming Ed is wrong. We all know what happens when we ASSume.

I'm a bit bothered by this thread for the simple reason that while several people have dealt with Edward and had no problems, that doesn't mean Edward is not at fault in this particular case...

Now, I have myself recently posted here in the GB&U, and felt like a total ass because the whole thing was a misunderstanding..
But, I had been involved in a few other deals that were truly bad, but because I was hesitant to post badly about someone I just "let it go" instead of warning others about these people...what ended up happening is that I finally got fed up, and at the first sign of trouble in my latest deal I blasted someone who didn't do anything wrong at all, other than doing what was reasonable.

My whole point being, I've had bad deals, I've talked to others who have had bad deals, but I'm not seeing anything from anyone here in GB&U about these deals...People do need to be warned about dishonest ppl here on the forums, but it's pretty discouraging if you just get jumped all over when you try to do that very thing...especially discouraging is when ppl who were not involved in your deal are doing the jumping, all because they had no problems with the guy your talking about..

Let's face it, there are scumbags wherever you go, and bfc is no exception. So, if you deal with one of these ppl, post your experience here so that others can at least be forewarned. My only advice would be to take all steps possible to make sure that it truly is a bad deal, and not just a misunderstanding

I too have dealt with LYFSFUN and currently have a deal in the works. I have no problems or complaints. I would/will deal with Ed agaig in the future should a deal arise.

Les,
I agree with what you said. All of us on this board should know what options we have and how to go about recouping money on a bad deal. If bad deals and bad dealers are allowed to continue then we are going to continue to be taken. This board has no place for anyone that is not honest in their dealings. When we take the time to weed these dealers out by taking action against them we do everyone using this board a service.

Thats all I have to say about that.

This makes me very sad!
I too have dealt with Ed a number of times. There has NEVER been even a hint of difficulty and I would gladly deal with him again. We've discussed in the past that MINT is often like beauty, "in the eye of the beholder". I've found Ed to readily stand behind his deals and more than willing to make right any dissatisfaction. BUT..when someone recourses to GB&U before exausting all their other options to work things out it's more than understanable that they'll get the other guy's back up. It's time for these two guys to get this settled between themselves and for the rest of us to BUTT OUT.

Comeon....its CHRISTmas time...

We often think that when we have completed our study of "one", we know all about "two", because "one and one is two". We forget that we still have to make a study of "and".
