I engaged in a trade with Bladerunner7 December 24th. The deal was I would trade him my blue Microtech Ultratech for his BNIB Spyderco Military in Cru wear. He insisted that because i have the lower feedback, I would ship first which I agreed too.
I sent my end out Dec. 26th and I received a text from him at Saturday at 4:25pm that reads "Yeah just got it. I opened the box and flicked it a couple times. Looks good. I don't think my post office is open now so it will have to wait for Monday to ship. Thank you."
He made the thread "Stiff Ultratech" (https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/stiff-ultratech.1541930/) saying that he opened my knife without my consent, before he knew he was going to keep it, and that it was too bad for me because I sent him a knife that "doesn't function as it should." He also said that it didn't matter that he voided my warranty because the only way Microtech would possibly know is if I told them that the knife was opened.
Anyone who has ever had an OTF knife would know that the action on them tends to be stiff and that anyone new to them might require a couple days for their thumb to get used to using the trigger. This was his first OTF knife and it was pointed out to him by me and several other people that the knife was completely fine, and that it was his thumb that needed to get used to the action. I, my friends, and the guy who sold it to me could all perfectly operate it one handed.
He could have very easily asked me about it before he took it apart and started to tinker with it. I only saw the thread by chance, we had no comms until I commented on the thread on Tuesday.

TLDR: unprofessional, took apart my knife before he knew he was going to keep it, didn't care that he voided the warranty because "how will they find out if I don't tell them"

So have you received a tracking number yet or the knife? I’m sure most saw the the thread the guy came off as a tool. Not someone worth doing business with very arrogant. Hope you get your knife from him soon. Belive me he made a lot of ignore lists hurts him and his service he provides here.

Yes it is supposed to be here today.

Completely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. If he thought the knife was defective, or even was merely dissatisfied, he should have arranged to return the knife back to you unmolested. Adjusting a pivot or reversing a pocketclip is one thing. Disassembly, especially of a knife this complex, is unacceptable unless the knife is your own, or permission has been given.

Thank you for creating this thread here. When he locked his own thread he prevented further commentary on his behavior, which, frankly is better suited in this forum anyway.

I read the original thread. His behavior is unbecoming of a bladeforums craftsman and reflects negatively on the entire site as well as other paying craftsman. I don't imagine he'd respond well to this thread either, should he show up in this thread unrepentant and arrogant I think he should be banned.

Imagine if he was just a registered user or gold member trading or buying on the exchange. His mentality will shaft someone else down the road.

Thanks for the heads up OP. I will be sure to avoid buying, trading and/or business dealings of any kind with this guy. He definitely seems like a good one to avoid.

@Blade Runner 7 , you like to throw around the fact that you have a higher feedback than others as some sort of pedastal. Well guess what, I clearly have way more feedback than you and what you did was wrong, and I must be correct about that.

You can put on the tough guy act but just own up to it and what happens in this thread will go much easier and it’ll be much shorter. Just because you have the orange title of “Knifemaker/ Craftsman/ Service Provider” really doesn’t mean you know what you’re doing, anyone can pay to get that membership. You’re not authorized by Microtech to work on their knives so why did you take that liberty? Even bigger than that, it wasn’t even your knife!

If you want to mess with knives by taking them apart and hoping that what you do makes them better, make sure you’re the owner first. If you weren’t happy with the knife, you should have just sent it back.

We can only hope that the Spyderco Military is, indeed, BNIB.

I copied this quote he mentioned in the link listed above. This is not rite dude!!

It’s a trade. I haven’t sent out my side of the trade yet. If I can figure out how to fix it, I will. If not, I’ll send it back to the guy.

Not sure what the hell he was thinking. That line shows his intent completely. If he is allowed to use the exchange he will screw someone over eventually. His self entitlement is quite off putting.

So if he took it apart and bent the spring and it made it worse, I wonder if he would have disclosed that to the owner...or just sent it back saying he wasn’t happy and didn’t want to complete the trade. Had it not been for the bonehead thread he made, who knows where this would have went.

Probably safe to guess that the Military is not BNIB (Brand New In Box, aka un-touched)

Wow, thanks for the heads up.

If he wasn't satisfied with the Microtech, he should have requested to negate the trade if he thought that it was defective or something along those lines. At least it would have opened the dialogue.

I'd probably have also reimbursed him for his end of the shipping costs since it was I who made him incur those costs and being unable to fulfill my part of the bargain, I'd feel it would only be right that he'd not be out any $ for it.

Anything less should be a ban offense.

Seems like Bladerunner REALLY jumped the gun there! The trade isn't complete until both sides are satisfied. He had that knife opened up before he even sent his trade to McShank! What if he's not satisfied with the knife sent to him?

And if you need to start a thread asking for advise on how to fix the knife, you obviously don't have the experience necessary to fix the issue without guidance. What if he made it totally inoperable and then McShank wasn't happy with the trade?? It's a losing proposition.

McShank sent first, so Bladerunner should have just said he wasn't happy with the action and sent it straight back IMO.

Jesus this looks bad, makes me legitimately scared to do business with people if stuff like this can happen without recourse.

Not a good look on bladeforums.

He is the unbelievably small minority. Watch and see how the community responds to this thread. Deal with confidence, 99 percent good people here.

SMH AGAIN ... I went and read the thread he opened about the knife ... all I can say is WOW ... what a tool ... how in the world do people like this have any customers?

I don't ignore people usually but I keep a list of DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ... well this guy earned his way to my short list of ignores ... his arrogance alone is unbelievable ...

and I hope the Mods and Owner of our great lil forums look hard at this and whether they want to allow a craftsman making those statements and clearly ready to be dishonest and do whatever serves him best and disreguard not only of the other forum member's trust and void his warrenty and say that's his problem ...but breaking the sale or trade rules blantly to do business here ...

I hope the OP gets his knife as everythings good ...
