CBM's - Customized Benchmade's

Doat and Keyman, if you don't mind me asking, are you guys doing the g10 milling freehand or cnc? I'm just wondering if it's possible to do scales in the same milling as the 810 or 950.

I can only speak for myself.
One word answer.
Dremel.

Dremel, belt sander and a drill press here. I do program CNC machines at work and I have recently bought a small mill for my basement that will be converted to CNC to make scales and a few other projects easier. I wouldn't hold your breath though, going to be awhile before all that is up and running. Even when it is though, it would be extremely difficult to match something like the rift or contego exactly. Even if I could, I don't believe I would. I wouldn't want to step on any toes over at benchmade and get shut down by their legal department. It's best to make some changes when you're doing after market replacement things and have the ability to create large batches of a product at once.

For now it's just running manual, but it's helpful for making stuff like this at least. Would have been really hard to do that and have the CF and wood meet up seamlessly without a mill.

I didn't think of it that way, but you're probably right.

Thanks guys. :)

Hey when you guys are working on your new scales, are you doing the dremel work while the scale is attached to the knife? also, would changing scales on a BM void its warranty? even if i changed them back should anything go wrong on the knife? thanks! I'm looking to start work on a little something for the adamas soon and im just gathering info.

Pete I asked keyman this, he said changing the scales won't void warranty as long as you use the original hardware

"Hey when you guys are working on your new scales, are you doing the dremel work while the scale is attached to the knife?"
Nope.

"also, would changing scales on a BM void its warranty? even if i changed them back should anything go wrong on the knife?"
Well, that's totally up to Benchmade.
It has been said that when custom scales are made using the original hardware and/or the custom scales do not detract from the original design, mechanically or cosmetically, they will honor their original warranty.
But, again I must repeat.....that is solely at Benchmade's discretion.
I'm happy to say that I have received the "A OK" stamp on more than one occasion.

^^^^^My God, those are stunning^^^^^

Would you be willing to do a set on commision?:thumbup::thumbup:

Scales by Keyman and just got my deep carry clip on my Grip.
