NOTE TO PROTECT PRIVACY ALL NAMES HAVE BEEN SWITCHED TO CORRECT USERNAMES. ALSO DATES BEFORE 1/1 ARE 2013.

MY EMAILS ARE REGULAR TEXT AND CEREAL_KILLER (C_K) ARE ITALICS. COMMENTARY IS ALSO REGULAR TEXT.

TL;DR: I ordered a g10 Dragonfly and had it delivered to C_K for him to customize with moonglow g10 scales and send back to me. The knife was returned with the factory scales in place, broken custom scales and a non-functional lock.

10/3 UKPK paid forward by me to Cereal_Killer for a custom scale job for his Father-in-Law
Same day – in e-mail offers to help out as he can because the UKPK is what he is most excited about from the PIF

Same day – asked since he seemed to have the skills to do it and at the time my instinct told me he was a good person (later proved wrong depending on how this ultimately pans out) if he would be willing to work with me on a custom dragonfly 2 with my providing the knife itself
10/10 Response about the customization in which he said he would be happy to and asked for his ease on the project for me to spring for the g10 model.

“Please don't think I'm tryin to weasel my way out of any work, I'm more than happy to help you out startin with either knife, actually I'm thrilled, I love having thinks I make out in other people's hands and I of course feel like I owe you something on top of that, so if the H1 blade is important, or you just can't swing the G10 version to start with we'll make an FRN one work. Think of it like this- startin with a G10 dfly I'm basically just making a pair of scales and turning a couple screws to install them, if we start with a one-piece dfly I'll have to pretty much build a new handle from scratch and find hardware to fit but it can be done.

For whichever one you want to start with the "budget" will be parts only, I'm not taking payment from you for anything, its no at all too big of a favor. Just let me know, I can do it whenever, especially if its just making scales for a G10 one that's not much work at all. Actually I'm really excited to be able to "pay" you back and am thrilled its not only something I CAN do but something I actually LIKE to do on top of that.

Do you have any ideas on material, wood I suppose since its what Im doin for the UKPK and what we talked about but I can do anything else too if you want to get exotic with it, I've worked with G10, Micarta, CF and a couple other non-knife specific resin type materials. We could even do moon-glow if we can source some.

Thanks again for the knife and thanks for asking for something of me, especially something as cool as scales for a dfly. “
C_K

“I can order one or if we are okay with waiting sometimes g10 dragonflies pop up on the forum cheaper usually around 65 from what I've seen. Amazon currently has one listed as used-like new with no description for 75 on the g10 that is likely in good shape and I could ship to you within 2 days. Please make sure your father-in-law's UKPK takes precedence. If you want a challenge though, I can order the black FRN one for around 46.This can wait if need be. Just stay in touch if you do not mind while it is going on and after as well too. You are a very kind person (C_K). This skill you have is also very unique. I could never imagine making a custom anything for a knife. And like I explained before Dragonfly 2's are my favorite.” Lionesser

“In terms of material, I would think either a moonglow (if it is as durable as g10) or wood scales to give it a classic look. The wood would make it look more like a traditional folder which I think is cool, at the same time I've never seen in person a moonglow knife and the glow factor is pretty awesome. CF I already have some knives and I think would end up not being as special. Not too sure about micarta, only micarta I have experience with is handling the Street Beat Spydie recently at my local knife store. I leave the primary decisions on this to you. Let me know which knife to order and where to ship it again? Thanks so much (C_K)! I will have one of the few custom dragonflies :) and my very first custom for my own personal knives! I am cool with covering the parts cost, if you can try to just give me some heads up what that will be for this.” Lionesser

10/11
“Lionesser, if you have one or you can afford it I'd really prefer to start with a G10 dfly, another advantage of going that route is the knife can be returned to factory should it ever need sent in for W&R service.

If you don't have one or you just can't swing the additional cost we can still do the FRN one, and I will cover all the material costs, I'm also sending you another surprise once its done when its coming back to you.

Right now I'm going to start tryin to source some moonglow, I really need the knife in hand ASAP as I have to take measurements (if its the G10 version since I dont have one myself) so whenever you can get it out let me know and I'll be watching for it. “

“Hey Lionesser just letting you know the dragonfly has arrived, its in great shape and is obviously new but the box is pretty bad. Nothing wrong with it, just hoping you knew it was open box...
Anyway moon glow is very hard to come by, I've got a couple feelers out to some eBay sellers, there is only one current listing and I'm watching it very close. I've also got some emails out to some knife making supply places that I've dealt with before that don't maintain inventory on, or even have web sites so Im not yet to the point where I don't think we can get ahold of some or anything, just wondering, do you know about C-tek? Its a new, very high end, acrylic material, its not necessarily expensive as a raw material or anything, but AFAIK only "high end" productions and customs come in it. Just something to think about, maybe google image it, see what you think, I've never ever heard of a dfly in it (tho I've never seen a moon glow dfly either)

I will keep you UTD on my quest for moon glow lol.”
C_K

NOTE NO MENTION OF ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE KNIFE ITSELF.

10/17
“Hey Lionesser, I waned to get in touch with you, I feel kinda bad sending this email, I was really hoping to be emailing you telling you how I had the materials ordered and I would be starting your project but at the moment I don't have the extra $35 for the eBay sources moon-glow. I wanted to buy it and get it put together for you cause I thought that would be a good way to pay you back but right now we just don't have the extra money. If you want to buy the material from eBay we can go that route but if you don't mind waiting a couple more weeks I'd be more than happy to foot the bill, its something I wanted to do from the get-go.

Anyway if your in a hurry to have your project finished your welcome to buy the moon-glow, that's the only materials/hardware I'll need so there wont be future costs or anything to worry about, but if you don't mind waiting a few weeks or a month I'll be more than happy to cover the cost as my gift to you, either way I just wanted to let you decide.

Again I'd be happy to buy the stuff I just need another couple weeks but if you decide you can't wait we can do it either way. Your knife is safe here and I'm not using it or anything if your worried about that. Just let me know if you want it sooner and want to buy the moon-glow yourself and I can start it ASAP once I have the stuff

Take care, I you want to think about it a few days take your time, just let me know.”
C_K

“Hi C_K,

You do not need to feel rushed on this. I already know you are an honest person especially by how well you are keeping me UTD on the project itself. I can not see myself denying you the pleasure of being able to fully reciprocate in the way you feel is most appropriate on this project. Plus it will save me some money to pay forward some more SAKs I have incoming from RemyKaze to pay forward on the forum. So, if you would like to wait a while until the timing works out for you no worries you have my blessing. Thank you so much for being willing to make a custom dragonfly 2 in the first place.” Lionesser

10/31

“Lionesser, great news, I've just placed an order for one set of moon glow blanks from USAkm.

I'll let you know how its progressing.”
C_K

“That is awesome news on the moonglow scales! Thanks again.” Lionesser

11/2

“Hey Lionesser, I just want to finalize plans, other tha the moon glow scales are there any specifics you want, any little tweaks or anything you'd like to request? Could I darken (using an acid wash) the back spacer and liners? Can I have creative control lol? Or do you just want the scales and everything else left alone?” C_K

“One other thing, do you use the pocket clip and if so what side? I'd rather not make the attachment point on the side you don't use, no reason to cut into the brand new scale on the unused side if you'll never switch it.” C_K

11/3 “You can be creative with it. That is part of the fun and I use the clip on the original position set up for a right handed person. Thanks again.” Lionesser

11/3 Trade: C_K’s Manix 2 g10 for my zdp manbug.

“Hey Lionesser, just wanted to confirm with you I'm sending the manix in the morning, I'll use whatever method it takes to make sure its there for you by thursday, that way you dont have to wait another week. I'll have tracking for you tomorrow afternoon too.” C_K

“I'll be sending yours on Tuesday probably afternoon (…)Will be sent by flat rate envelope. Just find flat rates easiest.” Lionesser

11/4

“Hey, this isn't important at or anything but all weekend I was kinda freaking out cause I paid for the moon glow last Friday by sending money order then the very next day the website was back to "out of stock" so I was worried the order wouldn't get paid for in time so today I called and they not only had my order set aside before they sold out (which only took 48 hours!) but the MO got there today and its shipped so that was a relief to hear. I only wish I would have bought another set of slabs so I could throw them on eBay at a 200% mark up.

Work will start soon, I've already got the knife stripped down and got the tang, liners and PB washers polished. I have high expectations for your little dfly, if it turns out like I have planned I'm really gonna be jealous lol, I've already put myself back on the notification list for the next batch of moon glow and I'm watching for a good deal on a G10 dfly for myself.

Oh and your manix went out today, the expected due date is Thursday so it'll be there for ya. I'll send tracking later, the receipt's in my wife's purse.”
C_K

“Wow! Sounds like you got lucky on the moonglow for a second round. First on the price and secondly on getting it in before it sold out.” Lionesser
Tracking provided to me on the Manix 2 trade and alerted C_K that I would ship the manbug the next day.

C_K tells me he managed to get a good deal on a g10 dragonfly of his own.

11/5 Manbug mailed and tracker e-mailed to C_K.

11/7 Manbug arrived safely to C_K.

Asked if C_K might be able to do custom Benchmade Mini Grip scales with funds backing from me.

“About the mini-grip scales, you already know I'd be more than happy to do any work I'm capable of for you not-for-profit, I like you and you're more than deserving, but I'm just not sure about griptilian scales, I've had a few I'm depth convo's with Keyman (who is THE guy when it comes to custom BM scales) and at some point I'm sure I'll take on making a set for my self, but untill I have a few sets of BM scales under my belt there's no way I could "practice" on someone else's stuff. They're much more technical than flat scales so maybe down the road, and if it turns out I can do them you'll be the first I make some for if you need/want them, but as of now don't think I could do a set without lots of "learning" (AKA screwing up and starting all over). If I could my mini-grip would be wearing CF scales. (I'm a big fan of CF if you didnt pick that up before now lol)

What mini-grip are you considering? The 555(HG) I hope (cause its my favorite).

Have you thought about putting your ZDP blade in the G10/moon glow handle? Now that would be a freaking awesome knife! Also have you done much searching for moon glow/ GITD Dragonfly's? I have been looking and I saw a few painted with GITD paint but none in actual glow material, AFAIK your's will be one of a kind! Are you going to show it off on the forums? Do you mind if I show build pics or do you want to be the first to show it off? (Just so you know not only am I cool with you showing it of and posting I did the work but I'd actually be thankful for any "advertising" or anything you do want to post about it) “
C_K

Some discussion about mini grip scales and possibly funding some practice for those. (Which I did fund part of during this saga)

11/9

C_K has some housing difficulties and sends a partial e-mail about hobbies as well as some Christmas presents that I was looking into possibly getting for him.

Some talk about my sending a LW Manix 2 and possibly a Zancudo for the holidays and more about the housing situation.

11/11 Start of my helping fund some mini grip scales practice for him through USAKM. Housing situation resolves. Let him know I am going to mail out his Christmas package soon and pay for the mini grip scales practice the following day.

“Thanks so much Lionesser, remember when we first started talking I was worried about repaying you somehow... I'll never be able to repay you, you've done so much for me, I just hope I can one day be in a position to help someone else who needs it. You are an amazing woman and I'm glad to know you. Thank you.” C_K

“Hey Lionesser, no pic this time but just wanted to give you an update, the dfly is coming along great, its taken [literally] days of sanding but they're just about the proper thickness (if you remember dfly scales are 2mm, well I've had to sand the moonglow down by 50 freaking percent) and that's slow going but I really don't want to risk using a belt sander or other power tools so it doesn't get wavey, its gotta be perfect for you! (Btw I'm gonna be very jealous of your knife, not that I didnt expect it to be nice, I of course did, its just that I didnt expect to like the idea of a glowing knife this much lol)

So I've been down in my shop a while this evening and am just about to sit down to dinner with the whole family (not a common occurrence with after school activities and stuff usually going on) but after that I'm gonna get that order submitted, I have usually got quick service from them so I'd say sometime around noon or a lite after to or row they should get it processed and forward the invoice into you.”
C_K

11/12 Manix 2 g10 arrived. This is the only knife that arrived in good condition. (The items from the trades besides this were in poor condition including excess oil and dirt upon arrival that I used a microfiber cloth to clean up the blades).

11/13 “C_K you can advertise the moonglow dfly as a project for a PIF member or something like that is still descriptive enough to give credability and should help your business if more inquire in private can give my username and have them email me here and I will verify for them about your awesome work!” At this point I thought it would go fine. The results did not prove this.

11/14 First package sent by me arrives: “Hey just wanted to send you a quick note the package arrived, I'm gonna send you a longer email later tonight when I've got time, I'm super busy right now, but I wanted to let you know right when it got here, everything looks awesome!” C_K

So these are my thoughts on each if the different things-

“First off the polish and especially the locktight, in all m years of wrenchin professionally and tinkering on my own toys I don't think I've ever purchased locktight, I always have those "single job" size ones around (which are way more than single use) so those are always a welcome addition, thanks for thinking of those, did those happen to come from spyderco? I know they send those exact ones with replacement screws.
And as for the polish, I've been using stroping compound on my polishing wheel so that'll deff. come in handy for lot of crap.

Next, about the chive, I took it out of the box first cause it was shiney lol and I had it about 8 seconds, (C_K’s wife) was standing there looking at all the cool stuff with me and I've never seen her get that excited about a knife before, she loved it and with tomorrow being her birthday I didnt have the heart to tell her it was meant for (their daughter), just gave it to her. She loved the assisted opening (her first) and the safety lock, we replaced her old ladybug on her keychain with the chive (now I'll probabily give kevy the ladybug). When she came home from work this evening she said 2 people asked her about it and one lady even said she was now going to start carrying a knife of her own since having a "cute" knife is an option (apparently she thought knives only came in black!?, just imagine if/when (his wife) shows her a pic of the GITD dfly!)

So moving on, the mora, it was much more sturdy/heavy than I imagined one would be. I also really like the unfinished spine on the blade, never knew they had that. I used it to cut our daughters birthday cake tonight (I think it may have been just a little bit to much knife for a cake lol).

I think you were most excited about the Manix LW? I can't believe this is the same physical shape/size as the G10 / full weight knife, I think the wire clip plays a part in this but it rides so much better in my pocket, especially wearing the pair of pants I had on today, I think it'll see lots of pocket time (plus I really enjoy maintaining BD1 steel for some reason). I chamfered the opening hole and bent the clip around to be deep carry and I thoroughly enjoy it already.

I think that brings us to the surprise, the rat 2... First off thanks for ruining my little experiment I had going on, yesterday, obviously having no idea a rat-2 was én route, I decided to carry my rat-1 for a couple days, well that lasted till I opened the box today, I knew by the box what it was (but I was again surprised to see the coyote brown) and it immediately kicked its big brother back into the case i keep my knives in, experiment over. So thanks. (J/k lol). I really like that its brown too, just recently I started to like colorful knives better than black ones, my dark green salt and green g10 dfly, my red mini-grip, now I have the brown rat-2 and the blue manix 2, I like having so many different color choices other than black. Also, I'd never thought to compare them but the mini-grip and the rat-2 are very similar in hand, I know for atleast the next few days it'll be my main EDC (tho it'll be hard not to switch knives out every 20 minutes now)”

“What I can do (and have been doing) is my best work on your dragonfly, I hope it can be a small token of my gratitude for everything and I'm honored you gave me such loose guidelines for the project going in even tho at that point I was just some random dude on a knife forum (hopefully I'm a little more now). “
C_K

11/15
“Yes the loctite is from spyderco. The polish was from a different person paid forward to me that I tried a bit then decided was not for me.
The Chive seems to have become a good birthday present! Happy Birthday. Very happy the chive is converting some non-knife people!

Cutting cake with a mora definite overkill but knives need some love and it was probably a very sweet introduction to your family ;).

I am happy to hear the Manix is a success but even more happy that the rat has a chance at competing with your favorite mini grip!

The dragonfly you are kindly making for me will be a first on many levels for me and certainly special and appreciated. First custom, first moonglow, first time customized by a good friend who has skills I cannot even dream of. “ Lionesser

11/16-18 Start of another trade: His g10 dragonfly for a project or future project as I saw it that is off the tables now and has been since his lack of communication.

“I have my G10 dfly, its only been carried just a couple times but its heavier than I prefer for what I use it for (carrying in my running shorts/sweat/pajama pants). I'm looking to trade it for a ZDP dragonfly and I know you have one, if you like your ZDP or just don't want to trade that's totally cool, I won't be the least bit dissapointed, but we know each other so I thought if you did want a stock G10 dfly to match your [almost finished] custom one trading me's an option.” C_K

NOTE ALMOST FINISHED CUSTOM AT THIS POINT

Politely told him no, but that we could maybe use it for a base on another custom scales project instead and still do a trade that would benefit him. Result is he gets his zdp dragonfly.
He agrees and starts talking details of the other custom job.
“Would it be ok if I wait and ship it this coming pay day (next Friday)? If you absolutely need it to go out sooner I can do it, but it would be easier if I can wait.

BTW your dfly is so close, all the heavy sanding is done and the holes are drilled and counter bored, I'm just trying to get them to a finish level I'm happy with, it will be going out Friday as well, you'll have it next week.

Thanks again, for your patients too on your project,”
C_K
“If you need wait until after Thanksgiving. I won’t be able to visit the PO that week with family in town.

I bet you are happy the project is almost done too.” Lionesser
Informed him ZDP dragonfly 2 arrival should be 11/20.
“Thank you so much for keeping me up to date and consulting like you have despite my saying many times that I trust you judgement. I do not really use landyards on that as it is more of a pocket sized knife. The only reason I see to possibly add it is to standardize it and as a custom it does not really need to be standardized. So let's stick to your judgement and skip the extra hole. The pocket clip is the most useful anyway :). I am glad you are proud of it and I can't wait to see the final product. I will probably have to wait until the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to pick it up so if you want to wait until after that to mail it out that is good with me too.”

ZDP dragonfly tracker sent to C_K

C_K got into a fight with Morrow and mentioned it on 11/18.

11/18 Pictures provided of almost complete attempting 1. “Here it is almost done... I have to flare the lanyard tube tomorrow when I go borrow my friends flaring tool (that's why it looks a little out of shape but it'll be perfect after that) and I have to do a little more finishing on the edge bevel but other than that its pretty much done!” C_K

11/19 Asked for a delay in shipping since I could not pick it up until early December and he wanted to show his Uncle his work. I agreed since at this point the communication was still open.
Talk about a knife swap Manix 2 LW for Manix 2 LW back to the original one I had that was pinned not torx as I wanted to have the birthdate that comes with Spydercos on box.

11/21
C_K states he has another surprise for the package he is sending me. (Result of this package is everything, but the moonglow dragonfly which is not completed project and the shipping costs are from other people just sent through C_K. Black Mini Grip satin blade 556 from RedLynx. Wooden Dragonfly 2 from Whestone39. E-mails were sent to them with proper thanks. C_K complained and to try and do the right thing I sent another package with a user D2 blacked out Mini Grip from a trade, a folding baton from Wali, some cash, and the first attempt at the dragonfly 2 moonglow scales).

11/24 C_K asked for some advice and never followed through on asking the specifics.

11/30
Saw a post about C_K mentioning a custom dragonfly. Asked for an explanation. He explained life had become more busy and the reference was to his dyed H1 Salt dragonfly 2. Plans to mail out promised package with all the trades first of the week.

12/5
Asked if the package I sent had arrived safely and let him know if no communication I would ask for Whetstone39 to join in. Later that day saw tracker showed the Manix 2 as delayed and let C_K know.

12/9 C_K states package delayed and there is a large lifestyle change going on for him.

12/15 I receive some details on what is going on in C_K’s life and as to why there are delays.

12/18
Message CC’d to Whestone39:
“Hi C_K,
Let me be blunt at this point. Have the package in route with the moonglow d'fly or at least the g10 d'fly that I provided as a base for this project mailed to me with a tracker before this Saturday as the tracker updated and time of arrival it showed is after I had already been by the PO to pick up the package itself. Or I will be bringing this to public attention. I still dislike having to take these actions, but clearly you should not be trusted to customize other people's items. I have supported you in many endeavors including getting the g10 to practice making custom mini grip handles that will likely help support your family...yet a project we worked for months on together conveniently did not make its way into the package. I distinctly remember you talking about how you liked it so much you might "keep it for yourself"...that seems to be the case based on the facts of what I received today. You have until Saturday before this goes public on bladeforums...if this is not resolved I will also be de-friending you on there as this is not how real friends treat each other. When the final item arrives I will be more than happy to write a proper thank you for you to the items received. In the meantime I will be addressing the other contributors in private.

Lionesser”

12/20
I issue another warning:
“Hi C_K,

I want to make sure you are aware it is about 24 hours until the deadline I discussed for getting a tracker to me on the moonglow dragonfly 2 that was promised to me by you and in which I had funded the g10 dragonfly knife on this project. You had stated that you wanted to do the rest to repay the kindness of me paying forward the UKPK for your relative's custom scaled knife. You completed this project and I graciously extended the time to ship it. I received your shipment of the "care" package and it was missing the moonglow dragonfly which would have been the pinnacle of it since the majority of the other items were from our own trades. I would prefer not to have to do what I will have to do if I do not hear from you by tomorrow. That said. If you think I will not then you are wrong. I suggest you communicate quickly if you would like to avoid this situation. You have multiple ways to reach me, and even with your life being a bit hectic right now I still see you active on the forum so I am sure you could find the time to give this a proper reply.

Lionesser”

12/21 C_K sends the package tracker and becomes rather aggressive over the situation claiming he specially bought the Benchmade Mini Grip when the one received has been confirmed by RedLynx to be the one sent and intended for me. Also complaining he had spent extra cash on it.

In an effort to try and do the right thing:
“Hi C_K,
Thank you for sending the moonglow dragonfly 2. Given that we are communicating again I will not be putting together that thread either. Seeing as you are upset about the extras that you decided to include in this cost too much. I will be returning the extra set of partial scales so you can have a moonglow dragonfly 2 as well along with the dragonfly 2 g10 that I got in the trade which was going to be for another project. The moonglow scales I would like to point out you gave a choice of whether or not I would fund them and at the time you were more than happy to do so, despite this I will be including some money in the g10 d'flys return. This will get mailed out Tuesday when I pick up the moonglow d'fly so that the extra scale set can be returned to you in the same package (as long as the PO self service is working since I do not know if the PO is fully open that day, if the self service is down I will mail it out by the weekend at the latest). Also as you are upset about the mini grip 556 that will be in the package as well.” Lionesser

12/27 I inform him I will go pick up the user Mini Grip and get the package I spoke of in route to him by January 4th.

Approximately 12/27-12/29 Letter received in the package from C_K:

The set of scales labeled “1st” was the original attemptI posted “Almost” finished pic’s of. They cracked and couldn’t be fixed the final step of finishing the lanyard tube. These are made from the $15 pair of blanks I bought from USA Knifemaker.

The set labeled “2nd” was the second try I did. Made out of a $35 pair of blanks I won on ebay. They were different thicknesses I didn’t catch till after I cut them and couldn’t return them.

Redacting the rest of this as it gets into personal items that neither parties would prefer to have public.

12/29 I keep communicating about the package after receiving the note in the package from him letting me know about the failure on the scales.

1/17
Showed the Dragonfly 2 with issues to Allen R.

“Hi C_K,

You seem to be adamantly ignoring my past e-mails but maybe this one will get through your smoke screen. Given that the moonglow dragonfly was a failure, I decided to try and trade or sell the spare g10 d'fly. On only the second time since receiving it, in what I might add was a poor condition to begin with...it is now experiencing lock bar failure. I have never had a spyderco experience this before and I do not think amazon warehouse would have sent it this way either...which leaves only one factor -- you. I dislike doing this, but I may need to point out I have more than fairly compensated you for the troubles of trying to put a moonglow dragonfly together, and I did want my items back, however not a broken dragonfly. If you are the honorable person I once knew, I would like to see this corrected in some form or fashion. If you would like proof of its failure I can take a short video and forward it to you via e-mail. You know how to reach me.” Lionesser

1/18 Showed the Dragonfly with issues to Techno.

1/19 Sent a PM to C_K along with copying in those involved in a BCC who already knew the situation. I requested that compensation of either a replacement knife or equivalent amazon credit be sent before bringing this public. I gave a timeline of February 1. However, when I went to warn the PIF 10 person about this and he agreed to post him onto the list of people to watch C_K finally responded in PIF 10, thus moving up the time table on this.

The reason I went to the effort to put together this thread is to protect my fellow bladeforums members as I was unable to resolve this in private. I do not feel someone who cannot take responsibility for actions likes this should be potentially starting a business on the forums.

I saw the op and the knife in person on Saturday , knife has shoty workmanship and it will not function what so ever might of been Friday anyway I can attest to the shoty craftsmanship of cereal_killers work, he does not know what he is doing and is trying to get more business via pm and email without paying the proper memberships. If the people who gave me this info wish to come forward they can but for time being they want to stay out of it but I can speak of the quality of the work, I offered to work on it since Cereal_killer has been avoiding the OP jus to clarify...OP had the knife at the best cutlery shop in Alabama and was talking to the knife guy who's very knowledgeabe and he was just like woah. You gotta be kidding me. If anyone met the OP in person they would never do them wrong , they have a heart of gold and don't deserve this mess. Do the right thing bro fix the knife.

Sorry, Is it me, or what? I cannot make sense of the OP's posts.. Just sayin

Paul she's just posting all the info he was gonna do some work for her claimed to know what he was doing and he he didn't and he ruined her knife in a nutshell.

Ive heard both sides now and think you are leaving some stuff out, but I'm gonna let CK talk about this first before I get into anything. I just want you guys to know i'm behind Dan on this one.

Allen,

Thanks, That sucks. The guy is logged in now... Hope you are feeling better and the baby and Mom are doing well

Well, Cereal Killer has pulled two or 3 shady moves that led me to believe he was at fault when this all started to come out (he has sent a bunch of e-mails to the kids in the PIF thread and somehow convinced them he's a victim here, so I don't see why he didn't use that same spiel here tonight if he was online). Plus, Lionesser had a spot on reputation from the PIF threads - if you followed the PIF thread from the time this project (moon scale dragonfly) got started, you would understand the e-mails better; it is really jumbled with all the trades and mooching that was worked into the deal though. No matter what happened, the main fact is that OP bought a Dragonfly through Cereal Killer (75$ paid) and regardless of whether the work was completed or not, it's screwed with a dead back spring. The table is set, the jury is in, and Cereal Killer is up to bat.

On the other hand, Lionesser, It seems to me like you're treating the work like it was a real knifemaker that is supposed to do a good job; expect a dirty knife with glue in places it isn't supposed to be, sawdust in it, scratches, and other problems. The pressure picked up really quick there within the matter of a week as well- it went from being okay dokey to full on threats. I would expect that kind of pressure to overwhelm somebody that was in over their head. Still, the crux of this is that you gave him 75$ for a brand new G10 Dragonfly and instead got junk.

I'm glad to see someone not take all the excuses and procrastination; too many knifemakers pull that crap with a ton of excuses, a week of radio silence, an apology and more excuses, and the clients treat new excuses like products - they're happy to get them. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and call them out. I'm guessing Cereal Killer was hoping to put it off long enough to pull some stuff together to get it done - probably why he was trying to trade for another dragonfly and was probably looking for moonglow scales. This should be a lesson to anyone else wanting to get into a complex project with an untested registered user.

Cereal killer needs to plead his case, and I hope that the regulars from the PIF thread will weigh in because they are no doubt the most familiar with this.

The thread would look better with a new post from Lionesser with
1. A rundown of the core complaint.
2. The pictures of the broken scales and screwed attempts

I had a feeling the PIF threads would go south eventually.

Sad to say but some people ruin it with good intentions that never come to fruition.

hopefully all this gets settled.

It would be good if c_k responded and provided his side. That whole convo regarding trying to get a zdp d'fly for a plain g10 one came off as sketchy and unsavory...

I can attest to what Allen R. said. I also met up with Lionesser at the knife shop and she showed me the Dragonfly. I was shocked at how bad it looked. Lionesser is one of the nicest people I have ever met and certainly does not deserve this. Cereal killer needs to step up and straighten this out.

A nice couple of paragraphs summing up the events would be nicer. As well as pics of the damage

To cereal Killer from ex cereal killer therrrr great!

I would simply acknowledge your short comings. Apologize for biting off more than you can chew. Speak to lionesser about what would make her whole. Do all that sincerely and you've done all anyone could do. Its that simple and we can all move on to the next bump in the road. always be glad you have the opportunity to learn from yours and others mistakes.

I would then continuing learning to work on knives. Your skills will get better and who knows . If your hearts in it you will never fail.
When you are doing good work, people aren't going to hold this against you.

James

I find it suspicious that he is avoiding this thread. He posted in another thread at 12:30pm today.

Doesn't seem to care about this thread.
