I bought a CRK Unumzaan from chad m on the 22nd of August.

I still have not gotten the knife :(

He lives in Ontario, I live in Alberta

I paid him $375 CAD via EMT before we agreed on $400 so i sent the remaining balance he said the $375 was ok and i waited a week to cancel the other EMT.

I'm not going to call him a thief and :foot: he obviously is not judging from the positive feedback on his profile, but i have received e-mails and PM's from here and other forums regarding problems with transactions with Chad so i don't know what to think.

Who pays for a gold membership only to not log on for a month  yet he has replied to a couple of my e-mails since we made this deal

Anyone else have any input lets not bash or attack i just would like to hear from anyone who has had a good/poor experience with chad

Who ships a nearly $400 knife without a tracking #

I will update this thread immediately should i eventually get the knife

I post mainly on the Jerzee Devil Forum thus my low post count here

All parcels within Canada have tracking.
Even a "regular" parcel. So..... you can understand what had happened
Call police... not that they'll help you
Talk to your bank

I've stood up and vouched for him in the past based on my own many positive experiences with him. And while I maintain that he has shown me nothing but honesty, integrity and generosity, I now will not vouch for him based on the numerous reports of possible problems with him.

Markous, you asked about mailing knives without tracking; is this what Chad claims to have done, to have mailed the Umnumzaan without tracking and then it got "lost" in the mail? You said he has answered some of your emails since the EMT transaction; what does he say regarding the whereabouts of the knife? Does he claim to have mailed it to you already? Has he admitted to accepting your EMT money? I ask these questions because he told me in an email (date???) that he had sold the Umnumzaan. Unfortunately he did not mention who the buyer was.

Regarding your comment about his Gold membership and never logging on here anymore... I do know that he bought the membership back when he was just getting acquainted with knives as a hobby. Then sometime in June or July something happened that made him re-assess this particular hobby, its social implications, people's perceptions of it, etc. He decided that given his professional and personal family situations that knife collecting/trading was something he did not want to engage in anymore. After this decision, he went about selling off almost all his knives. Or so he claims...

To clarify our relationship (as it might seem to anyone reading this post that we are close friends), Chad M. and I live an hour or so from each other. We met here on BF and took advantage of our proximity to buy, sell and trade with each other so to avoid a lot of shipping charges. We have met up a few times to do some knife transactions. During those meetings he came across as a likeable and honest man. He never gave me any reason to question his integrity or character. He actually helped me out with some financial problems on a few occasions by "buying" some of my high-end knives and holding them until I could "buy" them back. He even offered once to straight out loan me the money I needed without holding a knife of mine as collateral. But soon after he got out of the knife game we began to lose contact. I actually sent him a few emails over the last month inquiring about these accusations, but he did not reply. He has not been in contact with me for about a month now.

And for the record, if I knew or suspected that Chad was up to anything untoward in the past when I maintained a casual email relationship with him, I would have ceased all contact with him. I hope that everyone here sees and understands that I formally declare no current affiliation with or knowledge of Chad M. and his actions.

However, I will do whatever I can to help you get to the bottom of this. Please contact me privately regarding this matter if you wish to discuss it further.

I have e-mailed him again about the tracking # like benya said above, it should have one.

This is the last e-mail i got from him

Markous,

I can't tell from that email what he claims to have mailed to you--the Umnum or your money?

Since Stabman said he bought and received an Umnumzaan from Chad, I hope it is your money he claims to have mailed, and that you eventually get it... Unless he had a second Umnum for sale, but based on my past communication with him and knowledge of his collection, I'm fairly sure he had only the one Umnum.

That's a strange email from him that you posted. Unless there is more that you didn't show us, it seems very vague, almost deliberately vague and evasive so as to confuse you and situation.

I hope we're wrong about all this and that there is a logical but yet-to-be revealed reason for all the mystery, and that you get either your knife or money. Becuase if we are correct in assuming he's scamming, there isn't much that can be done... and I will turn out to be a horrible judge of character.

Blacklisting him here won't do any good because I know he has given up knives. But is there anything that can be done legally, at least realistically or practically? Hope so.

That was the entire e-mail i had asked him he believed the deal was done and that was his reply.

Lets not get carried away with this :foot: i just wanted to know what others have for feedback.

Like i said before i'm not calling him a thief or scammer i just questioned his interest in my problem.

I have never done a deal with him, we have chatted a few times about making some trades, but we never ended up making any . We made "friends" here because we were e-mailing each other often to chat knives (this was back in the spring) He seemed like a decent guy when we chatted over e-mails.

At this point I think I am lucky that we never agreed on a trade...

It appears to me his response to you does not fulfill the general rule that deals are not done until both parties are satisfied. By stating he shipped the knife (him believing he fulfilled his end of the bargain) and then stating he truly regrets you have not received the knife means "sorry pal, tough shit" (wrong again, Chad).

Over a month passed since shipment means either he shipped the knife and it has been lost in the postal system or worse, he did not ship the knife (lack of tracking number is a huge red flag with me). Nobody in their right mind ships a USD $400 knife without a tracking number.

I used to work in an industry that had a rental/purchase program. Many of the accounts went beyond Net 30 day terms. We had an excellent bill chaser working for us and his words ring true on this one.

"Give me the Cash or Give me the Trash" was what he would say to the deadbeats who were late in payment.

Time to offer you a full refund is what is required.

BTW his forum ID is the same everywhere else too.

EMT = electronic money transfer.

sorry about your situation Markous, i hope this really works out for you in the end.

Kinda looks like he sold this knife to two different people.

He was on this forum a couple of days ago. The fact that there is no reply from him in this thread says volumes, as far as I'm concerned.

Seems to be the case exactly. I pulled this single post from his sale thread and it appears that either he had two Umnumzaans for sale or he sold the same knife twice to two different people.

Is it possible for a moderator to only allow chad m access to this thread and not the rest of the forum until this is cleared up?
