Hi y'all. Daniel, looks like coming down would be easy. Stopping......maybe not so much.

Good morning . headed over to Xanders today I'm going to heat treat a knife I ground forever ago , talk smack and dig through Xanders slipjoint collection. It is gettin' hot in these parts! Have a good one y'all. Also I MUST remember to take street shoes with me or I will be running around xander's shop in cycling shoes.:D

Nice landscape
This area has the coolest... desert to actual tundra all within 50 miles. I'm right on the edge of the Rockies. From the top of my place I can see as far as Cuba, NM which is 120 miles away. No TV signal though, lol!

Hey good to see you!

Fact! I remember Sara had 50# of rock in her pack, almost half her weight! I came down with a pack and a bucket for my friend who could not make it up the hill.

Nice! May the heat treat and smack talk go well! :D

Knives, bikes, landscapes... all cool.
Yesterday as my Son and I were coming home from our evening walk, we got about 20 yrds from a Blk Bear sitting with it's back up against a tree.
We say hi and just walked around the Bear heading home and the Bear followed us right into our yard and just hung out. Very interesting.

That's close! :D I sometimes forget my flashlight coming up from the shop... there are often bears right there at my trash! We had a cub try to get in to my yard last year... they are just like dogs for the most part and leave us alone. A quick "shoo" and they are off. I live in Bear Creek Canyon! There are quite a lot back here.

Yea, I guess I need to start carrying a cell phone.
I wanted to get a phone for pics then realized we don't get a signal, lol!

Current will try to take pictures today, I have to go find my car serviced
Pics! :D

Machete!

Got this old (1945) Martindale Alligator Brand machete reprofiled and a new handle. It originally had a classic machete shape at th tip with a straight spine and wide nose, but I dropped the tip and took the belly back for a cutlas shape. I also rounded out the blocky hndle shape a bit. Brass pins and bamboo flooring scales. G-flex epoxy. Full convex edge, still needs sharpening.

This thing is light and responsive in hand, full distal taper starting at the butt! Quite nice to handle.

Morning!

Ugh, back to work today after my 3 days off. I really don't want to go, but bills don't stop because I don't work.

Xander the machete is just perfect! I have a drawing somewhere just like... looks very useful.

In St.T I carried 2 machetes, one massive pointy one and a smaller rounded tip area style. For hiking I usually took the big one but either was cool. No sheath...

I used it mostly for collecting wild plants at my friends place, we had an incredible orchid collection including vanilla vines. The big one dug up lots of wild mango trees and I took many cuttings with it too.

In the Dominican Republic I stopped in a sugar cane field and asked for directions... the Hatian field workers kept their blades scary sharp with files. I'll say it's kind of scary asking a 6' tall Hatian dude how to get to town while he is sharpening a 3' cane machete! No one spoke English or Spanish so we just kept on cruising.

Good morning ! The heat treat went well . Xander taught me a thing er two. Thanks bro! I will try to do the finish grinding on that knife today. It is funny how I can grind a knife and set it down for a few months and in that few months my preferred style of knife completely changes.Hope y'all have a good day! ps I like bears:D

20:50, and was part of the civilized world.
I have been granted Spanish nationality

I do not understand, machete for hiking?
Pythons should be like trains

ouch ouch ouch ! It hurts to type! I burned my fingers grinding a blade out today. I did also do the finish grind on the little tanto that got the heat treatment at casa de Xander yesterday and I am thinkin' I am likin' it.I left the scale on the flats Ps I found the Remy BUZZZZZZZZZZED:D
