Hi men!
I just did the unthinkable. I just sold my Nealy Aikuchi one-off. But the funds generated from the sale will get me my first DFK Ti Tanto. :D See... it all works out.

Damn Rolf, that's some serious commitment! I vowed a long time ago to never sell one toy to buy another. I did that after selling a rifle I really, really liked to buy another one I wanted more, but ended up not liking near as much.

Morning gang!

Yeah but mine will be better! :D :p

I consider trading some of my guitars for a smaller amount of nicer guitars but I don't know, I like my guitars funky! I think I just need a bigger house. And someone to change my strings... :D

So I started a push up challenge almost 2 months ago. I had a little brainstorming session on how not to become a soft body with a demanding infant crawling around the house. Getting out on my runs is more and more difficult. I decided that I would attempt to do 100,000 pushups in a year. If you never took a day off (impossible), it would work out to 274 a day. I space them out throughout the day. It leads to some funny moments of doing pushups in strange places. I'm on day 56 and sitting at 14,690, which is 653 behind schedule. As a motivating bonus, I pay myself 1 penny for every pushup. I put the money aside in cash in the gun safe (obviously not a penny at a time, I've been doing 20 or 40 dollar increments). I have a specific piece of gear that I want to buy, but it is so expensive that I knew I had to earn the thing before buying it.

What challenge are you guys gonna take on?

ps, I fully expect fast14 to say something about 100,000 beers!

That rocks! Herschel Walker style!!!

I've gotta say almost 15k pushups so far is pretty darn good! nice work

My goal is to double my sales from last year, sell 100 of at least two models, make the folders!

I'm feeling pretty good about it so far...I'm at about 60 KCT's and just over 50 Backpackers.

Lol!

Good for you! I currently try to maintain 50-60 pushups a day and 100 sit ups. I do the same as you, space them out, usually at work. I also am working on pull-ups. I'm down almost an inch on my waist line and down 7lbs. But building muscle as well. I'm 6' and 188# right now.

100K beers I would be busy every day for a long time! But I'll take that as a dare! Lol! How about this, you buy 'em, I'll drink 'em. I will be sure to credit you in the record books!

Currently, I'm hoping to put less than 2000 miles on my truck this year. I did 2400 miles last year, but still drove more than I really needed to. I should be close to 5-6K miles on the bike by the end of the year, though. Funny, one year I did over 2000 miles in one month on my bike!

Post your stats! It keeps you honest. I've told people at work about my challenge. Now I've posted it here. Its a lot of people to let down if I fail, which I will not.

Also, I don't know about the other people on this forum, but I really like the breadth of work that you put out, Daniel. You'll definitely be more streamlined and profitable if you put out large runs of specific models, though. I think of DJ Urbanovsky at American Kami knives. That guy has like 50 awesome models. He just innovates and moves. I kind of doubt he ever goes back to reproduce prior models. Then you have Rick Hinderer on the other side who made his perfect knife and just keeps at it. Anyway, no matter what you do, I hope you keep it up with the one offs!

Fast14: I'm delighted to see that you're not a beer guzzling soft body! I was wondering about you. ;)

I really want to bike to work but it would be an hour and a half ride I think. I might move substations so that I could do it and get er done in 45 minutes or so.

also, when I hit my number I'll see if Daniel can get me the DFK afficionado number 100K. As you can see I'm procrastinating. Now to the grocery store. I want to hear everybody's challenges for the year! New years resolutions are worthless booze fueled nonsense. Get some rock steady July 2013-July2014 resolutions going! Bam!

Haha, I try not to be a soft body, my Docs warned me it would wreak havok on my body and lead to major reconstructive surgeries far sooner than needed. Eat well, drink well, stay fit and live right. My goal is to get my 6-pack abs back, its been tough for the last several years after having a long commute and office job that I sat around and gained weight. I got up to 225# and had no energy. I quickly took 20 pounds off the first few months, but its been slow going since then. I'm almost in better shape now than I have been since highschool. I had major health issues all through HS, and got by on the power of youth. With a kid now and turning 30 I really have to work hard everyday for it.

Push-up time...

I agree, I am moving towards streamlining things but will still remain innovative. I try to mix business with experimentation... I believe if a maker is not testing and pushing the boundaries they will never be the very best.

Look for more Chef's knives in 52100, still more Titanium and lots of folders! I'm working on some top secret side projects right now too... look out for more exotic and stainless steels. I only have a few models planned but they will be good!

Good stuff there...

Fast14: way to go bro. I have two rules that tell me when to start running again: 1) if my body armor pinches a fat roll when I sit down its time to go run and or 2) when the scale says 200. I've run a marathon before but I fluctuate a lot in interest to a specific program. This push-up thing will be my crowning achievement when I complete it because it will mean I stayed the course for a year. Hopefully it becomes second nature so I never stop.

Daniel: if you want to raid my bank account just say so! Geez! I can't wait for the new projects!

Just finished 30 pushups. Will get 20 more in later.

Slow boring day at work, I found that drinking water all day long has really helped, but my biggest downfall is my eating schedule. Normally I skip breakfast, eat a reasonable lunch around 3pm and then a large protion dinner between 9 and 10pm. My work schedule is tough on my diet. I really need to get more pectin in my diet early in the day, mixed with protein. That will satiate me far better and take the load off my dinner eating habbits.

I figure that I'm two good stomch flus away from my goal, lol!

Hey Dan, you ever take that day off?

There's only one thing better than beer, that's high %ABV beer. There's only on thing bettr than that, drinking the beer after a bottle of Sailor Jerry. But there's only one thing better than that, being banished to the shop for pissing off the wife while you're drinking your rum chaser beer and having your head stuck in. Cloud of thin blue smoke :D

When it comes to arguments with the little lady I am severely handicapped, I have to make sense. Oh well, don't mind if I have another brew!

60 pushups done, btw. Skipped the carbs at dinner and drank them instead :p :D
