I'll make more mokume soon, but I need to reload on MAPP gas. The propane works, but it takes longer and overheats the billet closest to the flame. I also like MAPP for HT of 1084, I have a plug for my forge cavity that really helps even out the heat in the chamber, I have been considering a baffle of sorts though. My next shot at mokume is going to be brass and copper sheet, tired of messing with coins. I'll pick up some anhydrous borax for flux too.

Back to work today, been busy round here this morning playing house bi-otch. Two loads of laundry done, dishes washed, made breakfast, cleaned Zylers room and still am getting ready for work. The wife turned 30, went to the doc and found out she has high cholesterol, we were all surprised because she works out 5 days a week, eats healthy and is not overweight. Turns out its genetic, her body just produces too much LDL. So she's been on a low dose statin and it is making hr body fee like she got her ass whooped! She can barely move! So I get to do all her chores as well.

Oh well, if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

Xander, Hope your wife feel better soon!:)

We were planning to go to Orange county fair this morning but woke up too late. Thinking about head out for a movie...."Wolverine"?:D:D

Have a good one guys!

Sounds good on the mokume! I used MAPP gas too, the torch has a special head for soft glass... Sara does some incredible lampworkingwith it.

I have a plumbers torch too, acetylene and big! standard setup for sterling... I looked into a mold for making alloys, I want to make some Shibuichi. I can get set up for $100 or so, not bad but I'll wait. I still want some plates for a mokume press! the bay has some 1" ones for $17 I think...

My old friend is way into metals, we scrapped a smelter he owned that must have weighed 10 tons. He processed everything from Aluminum to Gold. He owns a gold mine with massive reserves but told me there was more money in scrap! lol we used to collect all kinds of crazy stuff.... my first day we melted down 400+ computers, lol. I should go check the local yard, last time they had a ton of copper and brass sheet.

I hope your wife feels better! That' rough, hopefully they help. I keep my liver in check personally, it's too busy to produce anything. :D

I've been grinding! I spent the morning on the flats of a few and scales for them.

Sounds good! Have a great day Ben!

Enjoy the movie and then give us your opinion.
Today and gone to see the movie star trek into the darkness, I liked it and I think the new crew of Enterprises has earned every last dollar

Sounds good! I didn't know there was a new one.

I haven't been to a movie in years, maybe once since I have lived here. We should go!

I got to see Collateral Damage in Dominica, W.I.... that was the funniest movie experience ever. Rum punch and plantain chips were the refreshments, free if I remember.

Having kids makes movies kind of impossible. I actually always look at people curiously when they ask if I've seen a certain movie. "Is it on Netflix?" Then they look at ME weird.

Hope your wife feels better fast14. I just bought mine a margarita and it helped immensely!

I do have Netflix! Roku too for streaming... we don't get a TV signal here so it is nice having something to watch.

Our local theater is small and far away... Lubbock had a theater with one of the biggest screens in the country when I went to Tech, it was incredible. Opera seats and such...

The old Alamo Drafthouse in Austin was awesome! I remember seeing Superfly and got a free 40 of Old English at the door!

Xander I'll ask my Dad about the Cholesterol thing, he knows a lot about that sort of stuff.

What are you guys up to? I'm debating more grinding or just chilling! tired but then again I have an idea for something...

I'm at work and covered in birdshit. My lazy coworker had skipped out on cleaning the bird cages for the last two days, so I just did it. Oh well, he jus got in big trouble, he forgot to set the alarm the other night!

I have a pattern layed out on a bar I need to get going on. I have Mon and Tues off so I'm going to do that. Should be a fun one! I need to get back in the groove again.

Daniel, let me know if you find anything out, I'm already doing my own research.

Alamo draft house is still amazing!!!

Thanks for posting the for sale in the chat thread!

Xander: where do you work? A pet store I assume?

I work deep underground in a coal mine, we keep birds to let us know when the air is getting thin, lol!

Yeah, I am a manager at a local pet store chain. Its actually a pretty chill gig, good company too.

Either the teak rigger or a DanCo drop point hunter for fixed blade, Kershaw Skyline I modded for flipper and varying slip joints but my One Trick Pony is pretty common. Three blades, every day. The fixed doesnt get carried at work though, it sits in my locker.

Good morning, are 6:45 am.
It's a bit early to get out of bed and gives me time to check emails and read forums. I could not spend time with my hobbies.
I was surprised that riot working in a pet shop.
Today is day knife, my boker gnome, blackberry Swisstool companion and is going to make a "via ferrata" with my sister and her husband.:D:D:D
A greeting
PS this is a "via ferrata" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Via_ferrata

Hey Kermmak! Have a safe and fun trip on the iron paths!

I work retail management, the product is hardly relavent! I'm one of the fortunate (unfortunate maybe?) people that is good at managing other people and tasks. I've worked in management one form or another for over 10 years now. From being a sailing instructor, foreman, retail, boat manager, even in band in high school I was section leader and front rank center. Its a curse I guess, I'm actually very content working solo for long periods of time, kind of a loner. I do love animals though! Some are quite tasty, lol!

Speaking of work, this next weekend is our annual physical inventory count. I'm gonna be stuck there until at least 2:00am, if I'm lucky! More likely, it will be 3:30 or 4:00am.

Xander'm waiting for the family.
My last 10 years are an ordeal, I worked in the construction of buildings, maintenance electrician high voltage lines (100 kV), in a gun shop, a technician telecom company ...
I am my own boss for three years, I have no excessive profits but pays the bills and I have freedom to do what I like.
I love working alone, but now I have an assistant to a season I'm overworked.
Within a few days I have to pay taxes and also I have to do many hours and inventory ....

The "Via Ferrata" sounds cool! I googled the term and the auto complete added Telluride, CO... that's only 100 miles from here!

I checked out a few videos, there are tons of links to other stuff in my area too... I must check more!

Good morning guys!
