Dude, get a bar stool or something to sit on while grinding, if you aren't already. Anti fatigue mats work well too. Often times just putting one foot up helps take the pressure off your spine. I hate standing in the shop or at work all day, it kills my joints.
So your mixer is one of the older Kitchenaids made by Hobart? Those are sweet machines, they don't fall apart like the new ones do. Ours are doing good, but I'm pretty good about maintenance on all the kitchen stuff.
Time to head home for the night. Still playing the call and wait game with jury duty. Call again tomorrow.

Good call, we have been talking about getting some mats. I have horse stall mat under the grinder but need some real anti fatigue mats.
I want to try a stool too, I have seen videos of people grinding that way and it looks nice. Gil Hibben has a cool technique, makes it look easy.
I'm at the KMG at least 30 hours a week, I fill up a bucket with steel dust every month or so.
I read somewhere... Mick Strider described a stretch to do, sort of like pushing a "ceiling" up with your palms, it really helps me realign everything after grinding. He also mentioned that you never really get used to grinding all day.
I do try to make all of that easier, it's like watching Yngwie play guitar... effortless! If it looks hard you need more practice.
I think I must be close to 500 knives by now, it is getting easier! I take longer to make the same knife now than last year but I'm trying to push my finish to a higher level.
The mixer is a 2003 model probably. I should fix it!
Daniel them camp knives are bad ass!!!! I bet if there not for orders they will all sell in under an hour!!! Great work as usual brother!
Thanks! They will be up for grabs and I bet you are right!
They are geared for versatility... I have been watching lots of westerns and wanted a knife that would do it all like people carried back then.
