Good evening my internet connection works again.
I have hundreds of e-mail to send, is difficult to run a business without the internet.

Good morning y'all. Thanks for the kind words. I think Rolf just named it.Thanks Rolf!
Sloth,sssssshhhhh don't tell Daniel :D
I am with Daniel on the mushrooms. I bought a book or two and hunted some up but even with what some would consider a positive ID I was to chicken to eat one. I thought about growing my own mushrooms in a old freezer I had but it never came to be.Too bad , I love mushrooms.
I might try to grind some Ti today. I will see how that goes.I have never worked with Ti before.
Y'all have a great weekend!!!

Lol, I used to love some 'shrooms, but that was back when I rejected reality.

Funny, the first Ti knife I ever saw was a mushroom knife. Many years ago. I have picked and ate wild morel mushrooms up in the PNW, those are tasty as well. I am really considering growing my own in m basement, just need an old bookshelf to put down there and its just about perfect! Only issue is that often you get a white fuzz that creeps over everything near by.

Well the gunsmith was closed today, must be out shooting. I'll catch up with him next week. Its times like this I really miss my old buddy who did a bunch of work for me. He was a good smith, passed away just about a year ago now. A simple question or fix always turned into 3 hours of BS and stories. Never minded one bit. I still don't know what ever became of his tools. I should call his wife and see if there is anything still kicking around, or possibly all of it.

I hear the Mongels drank fermented Yaks milk, that's hardcore!

Thanks Rolf, I was super impressed by the Ti performance.

Yeah Kevin, it's fun to get out and pick them but I'm scared! with some education it would be fine...

Morels, nice! They are one I would trust myself to ID but I have not found any yet, it was too dry earlier this yea but we do have them here. I have never had one and really want to try one... I forget what Tom Robbins book mentions the but it got me interested.... Another Roadside Attraction if I recall correctly.

...just in from tons of wood prep, I worked all day on scales and bolsters! I have never done bolsters, they are somewhat complicated to get right. I actually brought one set in to look at they are so cool... Blackwood bolsters, .060" white G10 spacer, dark Cocobolo scales, white G10 liner!

Work like a slave, command like a king, create like a god. Great work, Daniel. Can't wait to see more pics, as usual :)

I like that, I need to write that down! :D

I'll have to get pics later, I was too dusty to get any by the time I had some good stuff going. Tomorrow!

The most important part about bolsters is the joint to the scales. I line those up and leave everything else oversize. Drill from the backside through the liners, and grind down to fit.

Well, turns out I might have some issues with the chamber on my 1917. Don't know why I didn't catch it before, but rebarrelling at this point would put me upside down on cost v. value. I think I wll just do a few little things more and sell the nice maple stock for it and buy another gun to build up.

Daniel, I'm still waiting for a sweet trailing point! I wasn't kidding about sending you some primo stag for a handle. I don't think you have ever done a stick tang and why not now! They really aren't all that hard, just overdrill the handle and fill the space with epoxy. Drill for the pin after you fit the guard then make the pomel. Either through tang and peined over tang or thread the tang and solder a nut to the pomel.

Let me know if you wanna give it a shot!

How did you escape from the traditional forum!? Get back in there! :D

Sounds cool, as far as the construction goes I may do some Wa handles for practice. I need to learn drilling stag and broaching... I have some books on the subject. :D

I really like stag, it is awesome.
