Morning guys! :D

Grinding - so far I have done a couple hours each evening, I am not as dizzy then... thought I was over it last night but no... knifemaking is our only income but regardless of that I want to be in there full time! highly motivated and moderately dizzy, lol

I just took my Allegra, wow this stuff has a kick! not a good one, lol I usually don't take any medication for anything... it is seeming to help so I will for now.

...been resting all morning, I want to get moving. The shop is really clean, lol. Cleaning is safe! :D
 
I know what you mean Daniel. If I take any cold or allergy meds I feel all twerked out for the whole day. I am still having to tape my thumb up to stop it from popping out of the socket.I getting old ,I'm falling apart :D. Daniel and any of you other guys that use a grinder. Did you guys ever have any weird hand problems when you started grinding a lot?
 
I don't like take meds too, but sometimes we have to as our body can't fight it alone.

Dude, make sure you feel better for a whole day before you go pushing yourself again, and also, disinfect your respirator! No sense in putting the same germs back on your face everytime you start to feel better.

Exactly!

Grinding - My hands get swollen a lot, sometimes to where I can't make a fist but that is usually after a whole day at the grinder. If I had an employee I'd likely make them rest for 15 minutes every hour, 4 hour max at the grinder. It takes time o build up to that, if you catch yourself zoning out give it a break.

I have broken every finger in my right hand, my pinky finger 3 times and the one next to it also... wrist twice in a bad way... I always guessed it was that! I try to stretch my hands a lot.

If you can try to grind every other day, it is like lifting weights once you go full time... grinder one day, other stuff the next

Knifemakers stretch - hands at shoulder height then all the way up with your palms flat (facing upward) as if you were lifting something big.... it helps re-align everything after pushing hard on a platen or wheel all day.

I don't think anyone can get used to grinding all day, it is hard work!

Good call on the respirator, I just cleaned it and will again. It was pretty nasty! replaced my filters too...

lol twerked! I know the feeling...
 
above video... Ricky was at the hospital because he accidentally glued a model truck to his arm... and a rag to his nose. The glue was getting to him, lol!


Bolsters! and liners! and liners between the bolsters! the effect is going to be cool

Now that would be nuts! lol sounds cool... I considered it on a few but want the straighter seam look after contouring on these ones.

These are gong on Western handles but are influenced by Japanese kitchen knives. I'm going to do some Wa (octagonal) handles eventually too!

lol! the DFK ship keeps on steaming ahead! I just bought Captain Sig a case of Red Bull concentrate and a carton of smokes... he's on the intercom now... "get off the computer and haul some knives in!!!"
