Hey. Tell me about this with respect to use and carry. For how "cute" it is, is it surprisingly practical?

I just got it as I headed out for the weekend trip. I’d say the first impressions say it’s more of an light basic cutting knife because of the three finger grip. Sheath seems good - much better than the CS style ’knife-just-dropped-on-the-grocery-store-floor’ sheaths.

Kaixo! New on the forum!

Another one that pulled the trigger on the PF818, resuming, it deserves the hype. Best 28 bucks ever spent!

Las week lost my 940-1 osborne while I was trail running... It hurts hahahahaha, so I wanted something cheap or affordable to replace it, and in case of an eventual lost wouldn't hurt soo much.

After reading a ton of answers, finally decided to get a PF818 in red micarta. Well, this thing worths every penny, imho we are stealing to petrified fish xD

Build quality is impressive for such cheap knife, literally is making me to forget the osborne, as is, maybe because I was getting disappointed by the s90v, don't know. The blade deploys and locks flawlessly, effortless, for this price a solid 10.

Probably I'll end up getting a flavorist too xD

The PF818 remains a favorite. Another gift from the low price on some of these has been freedom to modify. If I mess anything up, it's the same principle as worrying less if you lose it. 😜 Plus, you get practice if you ever want to mess around with more expensive stuff.

Taking a few minutes to smooth over some of the crisp lines on those scales radically enhanced the comfort of the PF818 in my hand. If you've never done it, you can use a little sand paper or even an emery board. (The average coarse/fine two-sided emery boards are not only handy but usually good grit choices for small mods to G10 or Micarta.)

I have one in black G10, just citric acid/balsamic vinegar patina-ed the blade this weekend, love it for the money.

It came quite smooth tbh! Only had to sand down the liner to move it a bit toward the center, just preferences

I saw your post this weekend!! Looks cool thanks!! I have some spare ferric acid somewhere, last year acid edged my CS master hunter 3v and stonewashed it, it looks awesome now!

That one has a nice sharpening choil. If I was to note the largest shortcoming of most budget knives it would definitely be the edge starting too close to the plunge line. Makes it impossible to sharpen while keeping the same geometry and ends up with a smiley.

Speaking of modifications Chronovore Chronovore , I couldn't agree more. I have it in mind to try to grind away the branding on the pivot of a PF soon with no idea if it will work. The beauty of budget knives! Really wish there wasn't an increasing trend of branded pivots.

I forgot I had this little guy but have been carrying it around the last couple of weeks. It's a perfect cheapskate knife, especially since this one was free for me (groomsman's gift given by a buddy of mine). The mini Bantam practically disappears in my pocket, locks up nicely and slices very well for a Sabre ground blade. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one as a cheap user, especially one that's made in the US.
