Check your Stocks, Man!

How 'bout a Fight'n Rooster large premium stockman in MOP with srimshaw and early vintage "Frank Buster" tang stamp.

Or a more recent 21 year old Fight'n Rooster in a smaller Stockman frame wrapped in what they call "end of day" scales. I have no idea what that means but was taken by the color of this type of celluloid(I think) and bought it just because..

Nice stocks sunnyd! I think "end of the day" comes from the notion that all the leftover scraps of celluloid were reformed into a random mixture of colors at the end of the shift or day. May not be true; I'd love to hear from anyone with hard info!!

Thanks waynorth,
I have heard many different tales and wondered what was true & what was not.. Perhaps some person with some knowledge that actually worked as a cutler there can offer the honest truth??  Please!?

Karl,

sorry, you mean the Rosewood one? that is a Boker.

The Camillus is the one on its immediate left.

Doh, really showing off my ignorance in these matters, aren't I.
Oh well, at least I'm learning all the time. That cannot be all bad.

Thought I'd inject a custom into the mix, a 21st Century antique if you will:rolleyes: !
Bill Ruple, a talented and prolific maker, and all around good guy, made this one. I bought it from him at a show in Pasadena, and hope to see him there again in February!
I love it's traditional look, the classic style, the worked liners, the old style jigged bone. I've been carrying it for the last week, along with my old beater Case greenbone (seen early in this thread). I use the Case, but can't bring myself to use this one, so I just fondle it, and look at it! Sicko! :D

Thanks sunnyd, MDG, Karl! The only trouble is, when they lock you up, they keep your knives out of reach:grumpy: !

Hey I just got a stockman to post. I ordered a 1989 #6318 chestnut bone. It came in looking good but it doesn't look like a chestnut bone to me. Any thoughts?
