Seems cool, but really, if having a hinge there was actually a good idea, all shovels would have that feature by now.

Well, to be fair, every folding shovel I've seen has that feature. ;)

The hurdle here isn't the hinge. It's the quality. There have been plenty of well made folding shovels that have come down the pike. The novel idea with this Chinese shovel is to utilize the hinge to do something more than just fold. Which you have to admit is ingeniously simple and clever. The concept, it seems, is solid. Nobody having seen one first hand, if there is a failure, it would be not in concept, but in implementation.

I guess the company is called Beijing Jinqiu Guoshi E&T Co., Ltd. and they also make another similar shovel without all the stuff at the pivot and a folding pick.

I want one. Maybe two. One can live in my vehicle one more in case I loose that one or a Boy Scout steals it from me.

the steel for the shovel is not that good it just for tough use and the price is probably less than 15 bucks

What is great is that I can use it clean up dog poo in the yard, and then go slice up some strawberries for the short cake!

If they add a gaz injection function, like the "WASP Knife", it'll be perfect :D

I actually have a couple of these. Yes, the steel is some what soft, but it is still usable. I had mine professionally sharpened and it works great. Not problems yet. And besides, how many knifes or tools do you have with their own Movie trailer?

If anyone is interested let me know.:D

If they goober-fied 'em with some tiger stripes, six pounds of useless ballast for that good "hardcore" heft and a catchy empowerment slogan, they'd sell like hotcakes in the US for $150 (optional death's head collage sheath with matching silver skull bead lanyard - $375). :p

I'd be interested in one or two for the right price. (grandkids are soooo easy to please!)
