Chipped ElMax Blade on a ZT 0561

Dude, you dropped your freaking knife on concrete. That's completely different than any stupid YouTube video showing "hard use", you can't compare a video chop into concrete with a drop, it stresses the edge in a completely different way. Hell, you can't even compare the same drop, as it could land a hundred different ways, each stressing the blade in different ways. Quit stressing and trying to blame the knife and own what happened. You treated it like a toy, played stupid games and won stupid prizes.

Come on read my posts. I owned it. I know it was a dumb mistake. As for treating it like a toy and playing stupid games if thats how you see it then I guess I did. If your flippers have only been flipped right before they cut and never just to flip then good for you Dad, lesson learned. To each their own I guess.

Elmax vs Concrete Cinder Block..

Nothing you can do about it now. I say sharpen the chip out, and it'll be your go-to user for sure. You won't worry about treating the knife with kid gloves, or that it be a safe queen. It's been 'blessed' by your hand, and then brought back by your hand. Tough break, yeah, but now enjoy the creedom of using it without reservation.

Pics or it didn't happen.

ELMAX shouldn't chip and by your ONE account you suddenly claim it chips easily. Good call

Truthfully, most denting and rolling is called chipping these days so I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't even a chip.

Eta: ^^^ seriously dude? You call that a fail?

I've done worse damage to my blades by simply using them.

The legendary Jarbenzer would have shredded that concrete before it's morning constitutional.
For breakfast it would have eaten the building you just walked out of.

Shoulda bought a Jarbenzer.

Like I said, not understanding what you are looking at causes a lot of confusion. That is a deformation from impact.

If anything, it looks like the tip absorbed the impact pretty well. I'd suggest you try sharpening it out. If that doesn't work, spend the $30 to get a new blade, consider it a lesson learned, and try to be more careful next time.

It happened.

You call that a chip???

Now this is a chip...

No need for a new blade here...fix the ding and move on.

its not showing up well and it is a chip not a deformation. The largest light spot on the edge closest to the tip is actually missing material. I know it to be a chip because it was hanging on by a thread when i saw it and came off when I touched a strop to it. In real life it looks very similar in size to Blues Bender's chip. It should sharpen out I believe. I want to thank everyone for their comments productive or unproductive they were all either informative or entertaining and I enjoy both.
