So the knife was dropped by you and yet the knife failed?

Amen. Your f*ckup, your failure. The knife didn't do anything other than be owned by a dude who dropped it on the ground. And you may not believe it, but weird shit happens when you drop a knife. Unless you have super slow-mo cameras like myth busters you have no idea what happened when the knife left your hand! ANY knife blade can deform from a drop.... If you're lucky. If you're not , it will break.

Stop knifesturbating at the BBQ joint and you should be aight. I swear OCD is insidious these days ....

Justin Arney, aka ARundrpillow, you, sir, are a scholar and gentleman. Enjoy your Facebook kingdom.

This dude is an admin of US Knife Traders on Facebook. He started saying that elmax was terrible and mentioned a story very much like this one. I laughed and said he must be the dude that got no love on BF for saying it was bad steel instead of inept kinfe handling. I then showed a video of the Russian dudes absolutely abusing an 0561 and it coming out of that abuse with minimal damage. The dude blew up and kicked me off the page. Just an fyi, he's a bit touchy and he's pretty insecure with himself after he started this thread and was soundly rebuked by people with way more knowledge than him. I can't help but laugh at his little man syndrome.

I was expecting some actual damage from the title...and then saw the picture. :D

If he is making the argument that ELMAX is terrible because it survived a drop as well as his picture shows, then I must question his knowledge regarding knives or steel, and why he is running a knife organization that is presumably spreading knowledge to others (and in this case, knowledge that is neither justified nor supported by credible evidence).

I know questioning someone's knowledge on the internet is a really crappy thing to do, but this is little more than a smear story that has evolved out of complete lack of understanding of the core topics of knives, steels, and physics.

So OP, I am sorry for my comment but as many people in this thread have shown, your expectations largely defy physics, and your interpretation of the outcome is not very realistic in terms of an understanding of what happens when a thin piece of hard steel impacts another hard surface with force. The knife did a very good job at surviving abuse. Superficial damage like that from that degree of abuse reflects a steel's notable toughness...NOT lack of toughness. If anything, this thread is a selling point FOR ELMAX.

All that is needed to correct this damage is light sharpening which takes less time than creating a thread or writing a narrative on how "terrible" ELMAX is. If you are uncomfortable sharpening your knives, Kershaw will do this for free.

Hell I'm still wondering what he got at the BBQ joint..... Maybe it was a nice BBQ'd crow?

This turned into madness. I apologize for offending anyone in my incorrect interpretation of the eLmAX failing. I love this forum and the knowledge it has and I have been helped a bunch of times now in a short period of time but no matter how many great members a forum might have there is always a line of internet warriors just waiting to pounce and post non-productive negative comments. Where you find the time to read and post in a thread with no intention to help or contribute and for the sole purpose of flexing your muscles to pump your own ego is beyond me. That boggles me. The day I find myself allotting any amount of time in my life to read topics I do not intent to contribute in a positive manner but only with plans to pick apart, insult, patronize and show superiority will be the day I quit the internet and take a real hard look at what my life really has become and what is wrong in my real life.
To everyone else that had something legitimate to add I really appreciate it and you guys are the reason I find it worth it to sift through the garbage to find the good.
Also, I am not sure if I am reading this correctly but is Bodog saying that I am the admin of "US Knife traders on FB" if so i am sorry but you have the wrong guy. My facebook name is Cole Williams. I am not even familiar with the group you are speaking of. If I confused what you were saying and am reading it wrong then my bad I apologize.

OK trolls, on the count of 3 read as deep into this as you can and begin to over analyze and pick apart ever sentence with a bunch of stupid crap. It will make you feel great about yourself for a quick minute and allow you to feel superior in your internet life and forget about how miserable your real life is. OK...... 1........2.........3.........troll on
