CHOOMBAK Posted a flashlight for sale and stated "Conditions of sale
First "I'll take it" via email/PM/post gets it.
Well one person posted that he was interested and I posted, "I would take it."
I immediately pm him.

His return pm was,
"The gentleman before you has not reverted back. Though technically you have a firm "take it", I'm checking with him. If he doesn't respond in a few hours, the light is yours. Either way I'll let you know. Hope you understand. Thanks."

THIS IS NOT RIGHT OR FAIR!

His second pm after leaving me hanging was, "The light has been sold, thanks for your interest."

What a low life, he waited two hours for the guy to get back to him.

I think he should be banned from selling here for not following his own requirements and the generally followed guide lines.

A person can sell to whoever he wants to

That's why there's E-bay

In this case the seller should have sold his light somewhere other than BFC, here we try to do what's right and just ALL the time.

Wow- all of this negativity over a, FLASHLIGHT? Another butt hurt member, posting an unnecessary, negative GBU thread.

This disclaimer posted by, Choombak, IMO, is pretty crystal clear:

"I reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone without stipulating any reason."

IMO, you got way too amped up, over such a trivial matter. I know somebody whom I'll never be doing business with...

1. Amarendra posted, "Conditions of sale
First "I'll take it" via email/PM/post gets it."

2.Amarendra, pmed me, "Though technically you have a firm "take it", I'm checking with him.

Why didn't he follow his condition and the general rule here?

He is a low life and should not be able to sell here.

I'm sorry Rick, but I can't side with you here. I understand your frustration, but as stated above, he can sell to whomever he wishes and stated that much in his for sale thread.

Calling him a low life it way too far IMO.

Say what you want but what does "Conditions of sale
First "I'll take it" via email/PM/post gets it" mean?

NOTHING?

This is wrong.

I don't think you should have posted this thread just message him your issue and move on. The lowlife name calling is ridiculous.
However, even with the sellers "Sell to whomever I want disclaimer", I agree with you that it's messed up. You followed the I'll take it rule and he let someone sit on it that length of time to look up specs that should take a few minutes to research?

I think this needed to be posted to show that, "First 'I'll take it' via email/PM/post gets it", means something.
Giving a guy two hours to get back to you is ridiculous.

This isn't right.

"First 'I'll take it' via email/PM/post gets it", OR "I reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone without stipulating any reason."

Which one is it?

I don't disagree just with your method of delivery. Personally, if It was my for sale thread I wouldn't have sold it to the guy just because he can't understand simple directions. It states first I'll take it not I'm interested please hold it for me while I take my sweet time looking up specs that I should have researched before crapping up your thread. But hey that's just me.

I believe it's:

"First I'll take it gets it" however, the seller has the right to "refuse a sale to anyone without stipulating a reason"

Something very similar happened to me on the exchange not that long ago...I was frustrated, and let the seller know via PM, but I also acknowledged that it was his item and his sales thread, and he could run the show anyway he wants to...
(Within reason)

I understand your frustration, however sellers need to be able to control who they sell to.

Maybe in general, if you are going to post a for sale add, don't include 'first I'll take it' and then the clause of "I reserve the right....." That's something valid that we could debate in the GBU....I have been guilty of posting that way, and will remove the 'First I'll take it' from any future adds.

ah, proper etiquette.

if someone post an interest or a pm with a few questions that means they are interested but would like a question or two answered. imo that's basically an ill take it but would like some more info. Then if someone post an ill take it straight out in the thread then proper etiquette comes into play, meaning if the poster that was interested is no longer interested then off to the second poster.

or if the poster that claims an ill take it after the the first poster expresses interest then the ill take it poster should then say Ill take it if the first poster doesn't want it.

I ran into this a week or so ago. If someone post something in terms of pmd with a few questions then obviously they are interested but would like some more info. I would rather post pmd with a couple of questions and be happy after the sale than ill take it and not be happy.

that is my take and I think this thread is because someone is upset because they didn't get the flashlight instead the first poster enquired about it got it. They were first in the thread.

Like others, I sympathize with your frustration. I'd probably just put him on my "don't do business with" list, but calling him a lowlife because he decided to sell to someone else? That's a bit over the top. You're not out anything, and he hasn't done anything to justify a ban, so I'd just move on.

Also, I believe the ill take it rule is in the terms of the original poster with the item (s) for sale.

I don't think the first ill take it trumps a first poster wanting more info. I don't believe there is a Rule (BF) stating the first ill take it gets it? I think that is up to the original posters terms if they put it in there.

No it's not.
How can you say, I am interested means I will take it?
And then wait TWO hours?
Get real.

So what does I'll take it mean?

lol, I am real Hoss.

not sure about the two hours (maybe proper etiquette?) but if you ask questions or are actually first in the thread with expressed interest then obviously you are interested. Why would you ask any questions or express an interest if you didn't have an interest in whats for sale?

His Terms,

(Conditions of sale
First "I'll take it" via email/PM/post gets it. If you email, please state username.. Timestamp rules. Payment promises, partial payments, etc. not okay. Price if firm. Not interested in trades. I reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone without stipulating any reason.)

If He would have left out the (I reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone without stipulating any reason) Then you would have a valid argument. It looks like to me the first Interested poster was given the chance enquire on the flashlight first.

Man, you can't be for real.

Two hours proper etiquette, LOL.

Again you're saying, "obviously you are interested" means "I WILL TAKE IT.

IT DOESN'T!"

Again, yes im for real. and Yes he was using proper etiquette in terms of giving him a little time to see if he wants it since he was the first person interested.. Although in all honesty I wouldn't have done the two hours.

Interested doesn't mean ill take it but it does mean your interested meaning, you have expressed interest and would either like more info or a chance to ask questions.

Again, I am a real person giving my two cents in the matter.
