Chop off TEST Cold Steel Vs. Busse PICTURES

Great thread.
Im game for a new thread though.
Wonder how i could get a knife of my design in there for testing. (I love tests and well done write ups like this)

I'd test the he'll out of your knife. I'd write a honest and thorough review as well.

Issue would be that I don't have any particularly good choppers. I've got a Busse TGLB I use for all of my bushcrafting shenanigans. It'd have to compare to that knife in terms of the build.

Whats the specs on that? I mught be able to make something of similar caliber with different geometry designed for chopping :D

I have lots and Lots Of CPM 3V laying around (0.187, 0.227)

I remember reading the earlier part of this thread awhile ago. I bet neither would fare very well against the bb13 today.

7.75" blade 13.25" over all length
.25 thick INFI
Ive got just the thing.
Camp Kaiju .
8 inch blade.
Convex ground 3V
5 inch handle.
I'll give the extra blade length because its 0.220/0.227 stock so slightly thinner.

I'll make one for testing. You will have the option to buy it after testing if you like.
Should look similar to this qith a slightly longer blade (this was a prototype 7.3 inch blade)Screenshot_20180713-102253_Gallery.jpg

Nice.

;) This thread should be granted immortality . It starts with two of my favorite Cold Steel choppers outperforming a Busse !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

:thumbsdown::thumbsdown: you'll keep pushing buttons till you get banned apparently. Well, please keep going:thumbsup::cool:
So I'm not allowed to celebrate owning 2 knives that perform better than one I can't afford ? Where is THAT written ? Cold Steel is a BF supporter with a Manufactures Forum , so chill out !

Try a bb13, they’re affordable in used condition, same price as a new sanmai trailmaster! The busse he was comparing it to did not have the length to be a true test of the steel’s abilities, imo. Plus they can’t be broken(ymmv).

Hi Shannon
I would be willing to test your knife in the the NEW test - also some others if needed. PM me on how to get one :D
I have been out of the forums for some time but my interest in knives are stronger then ever :)
Should there be some dogmas for the test - thinking length, edge grit etc?

Cheers,

André

Busse. Stands for “basic bolo 13”.” Available in sr-101 as bg, or battle grade and infi, as cg or combat grade.
Sounds like an interesting blade - 13"? Think the NEW test should be Trail camp knives 8-10" but I am willing to throw in a wild card like I did with the CS Kukri. We should test best grade stels from the different manufactures.

Cheers,

André

Great design :) very classic and like the old Bill Moran Rio Grande Bowie ja?

We should most defiantly have a 3V knife in the test.
I would also make this test a bit longer with more tasks and testing after resharpening.

Cheers,

André

Sounds good. Looks like this new blade is gonna get some miles!

Ive never seen that bowie you mentioned.
This knife was designed for a customer that wanted something Similar to a survive knives 7.1? Im not familiar with the models.
I put my own spin on it and made it my own

Its now one of more popular larger knives.
I have made them in Cpm 3V and in Z-Finit.
I would like to build one in Zwear when i get more stock and free time. Lots of big knives on the list!

We should start a new thread for the new test. Make it easy to find!
