Are you going to do the hard use test?
It is a Zaan after all.
Not to put you on the spot or anything...........![]()
Now that you are in the club, let me know how you handle the belly on the EP (if you decide to go that route over freehanding it). I'd like to know if you end up having any awkward angles and how you deal with them. Because of the sentimental value attached to my Umnumzaan, I tried to take it easy and match the factory bevel.

+1 Heavy duty tip, dis-engage lock for batoning and you should pass it with flying colors!
BTW, what is the factory edge (inclusive degrees) for the Umni and Sebenza? Or, are they all slightly different?![]()
The grind thickness seems to be every even all the way down the blade so the bevel should turn out even on the EP well I think.
Very true.I guess the challenge I had was finding a position on the EP table that would accomodate an even swipe of the EP arm. I started the sharpening with the white 200grit stone and left that as the final finish. I'm almost sure that at that Rc, the knife will cut better than with a full on 3000grit mirror polished edge.
I'll try and set it on the EP. It would be much easier if that thing just had numbers rather than COLORS!
I never understood that.
Why not just put 24, 21, 18, 15 etc

Nice pictures - great knife. Sadly, it spoils you. Mine, that questionable sibling from Wilson Combat with the StarTac handle pattern, was ordered last September from W.C. for two main reasons: 1. They had it (Plain 'zaans were hard to find!). 2. I liked the pattern better. Sadly, it was $30 more - but free s/h. Here it is with my standard bearer for high QC, at least until the CRK arrived, a Buck 172 Mayo TNT:

The bad news re owning a CRK - they spoil you. You'll expect all knives to look, fit, and function right. Congratulations on getting your 'zaan. I am happy to hear you like it - I love mine - perhaps I am not so weird after all. Okay, small steps...

Jim,
Forgot to send you some kudos on yout photos too. Nice job.
Rick
Great pictures Jim, thank you. And my first feeling is that of relief. I don't need anymore knives (yes, I want them), but can breath easy and relax because finally you review a knife that I have and like very much. The addiction will be manageable for a while longer. Your reviews are just too compelling for a weak souled pathetic junky like myself (I thought for sure I would never be moved to buy a Strider but your review of the CC model with 3V pushed me over the edge.) Luckily, I still have some sense of fiscal responsibility or my family would throw me out and I'd be living under a bridge. Mike
Thanks Mike,
I am done BUYING for awhile now I think, have one preorder in yet and a custom in the works, but other than that I am done for awhile I think.
