Christmas Disappointment..Merry Christmas to all

You'd be surprised what a rabid fanbase will do for a company, or maybe not. Anyway, I said my peace, if you care to know more there is a plethora of info right here on bladeforums.

I started right up by googling "rabid fanbase" Lolll. This is way over the top of my head... I`ll stick with the "If the seller / Company does what it takes to, and fix ya" they don't deserve badmouthing.

Unfortunately you haven't even scratched the surface to come to any kind of informed decision on whether to bad mouth bark river. That is your choice. Good day sir.

Well I don't take decision to badmouth someone based on others saying, I keep that decision to my own ;)

I have a long (+10 years) experience from buying & using Bark River Knives.
Some of my most appreciated knives are made by them.
I have had a lot of personal contact with Mike Stewart over the years and he has always been polite and friendly.
BRK sure have added to the fun and educational side of my knifecollecting.

Sometimes I too have got a lemon, but not worse than I could fix the problem myself.
When I couldn't fix it myself, BRK fixed it under warranty and the knife functions better today than before the damage.
I for one will continue to enjoy my collection of BRK's!

Regards
Mikael

Hence my recommendation to actually research the topic, instead of being uneducated in the conversation you are having :)

The badmouthing of BRK and Mike Stewart that is going on in this forum is seldom founded on facts, but more of opinions.
I have read the opinions posted on BFC for years and I simply don't give them much credit for factfulness.

That is complete hogwash. Even in recent times Mike stewart has screwed around with people on this forum, fact. I am tired of having this conversation and spoon feeding the information to people, which is why I tell them to research the topic. Clearly you either don't know the shady things mike has done to people on this forum or don't care. Pretend they didn't happen, but that doesn't mean they didn't happen.

Hence my recommendation to actually research the topic, instead of being uneducated in the conversation you are having :)

shinyedges, I am not uneducated in this conversation and I think You should educate Yourself by getting the other side of opinions.
Then You can make an educated decision!

I could read all day and it wouldn't change my experience with bark River.
That's fine, you aren't unique. Many people don't care what the person behind the company has done, who he screwed over or anything for that matter. This is not the first time i have had this almost EXACT conversation with someone almost exactly like you saying the same things lol Carry on, fella who doesn't care to know more:thumbsup:

Ok... Ok... Lets just chill a bit... I`m just an uneducated person giving his opinion in a thread about his experience about a company on the internet... nobody forces you or anyone to take my saying as the "Pure reality"

You know what you know, I probably know less... but the fact is that any conversation with you has a tendency to become an argument.

And that is what troubles me the most about you. I know If I continue answering your reply. I will end with total trolling.

The ignore function works well, I seldom put people on it. Since you have it all figured out, I'll end our discussion here. If Mikael would like to converse about it, i am open to it.

Playing pretty coy. If you had stopped with saying that you bought some bark rivers and had no trouble, no one would be arguing. People report that all the time, and no one jumps on them.

But you made a few posts here where you speculate on who did what with the OPs knife. And made some extraordinary claims without any extraordinary evidence to back them up. Like this:

I`m pretty sure that Bark River never send a broken knife to any of their customers.

You’re sure of that? How? What evidence? They’ve sent the wrong steel before, for sure.

No just saying the truth I have only 2 Bark Rivers and would assume that they would not deliver a broken knife on purpose thats all.

I`m pretty sure that Bark River never send a broken knife to any of their customers. Most obviously it occurred between you and the seller. I never bought Large Bark River`s but the last big one I bought came in with a thick plastic tip protector and the kind of packaging you could directly drop off the plane for delivery. And if you didn't find the tip anywhere it occurred before packaging for sure.

Not sure where it happened. However, it looked to me like the retailer never even opened the box. I think they just have a stack of these knives and when they get an order, they box it up and ship. So if I was a betting man, I would bet that it came this way from bark river. I do not think anyone at BR knew about the broken tip. It could easily have been slammed on a table inside the sleeve and broke the tip. I do know there was no tip protector or wood piece and the box was not pierced, so no damage during travel.

Oh and for the record, I have received dozens of large knives and never had one arrive broken.

It didn't look good, not good at all!
It isn't the first time this has happened to a small knifebuisness ordering knives from BRK.
As far as I know the fact, the guy got his money back in the end.
Don't know if Brian Evans got his issues with BRK solved, but in the end he obviously could deliver to his own customers.
Cudos to Brian!

I know there are many members on BFC that never would buy a Bark River knife and I have no objections to this.
I do buy them even if it's more seldom these days, maybe 3 to 4 knives since 2013.
Why, You may ask?
Well, IMO there are no other production company besides Fällkniven, who has the cutting capability that they offer.
BRK knows how a knife should be built and how to function.
If there is one beside FK & BRK, it is Hess Knives, but they are often hard to get.

Fällkniven is the top brand to choose IMO, but FK's have become pricey compared to 10 years ago.
So following Your logic and my own, I don't buy new knives anymore except for slipjoints.
However I do enjoy my collection and I think others should build their own to enjoy.
If people asks about BRK's I can certainly recommend them, as they are production knives on a very high level.

Maybe You can recommend a brand at the same levels as BRK, FK & HK?
If so I would be interested to know about it.

Mikael
