Christmas Disappointment..Merry Christmas to all

It didn't look good, not good at all!
It isn't the first time this has happened to a small knifebuisness ordering knives from BRK.
As far as I know the fact, the guy got his money back in the end.
Don't know if Brian Evans got his issues with BRK solved, but in the end he obviously could deliver to his own customers.
Cudos to Brian!

I know there are many members on BFC that never would buy a Bark River knife and I have no objections to this.
I do buy them even if it's more seldom these days, maybe 3 to 4 knives since 2013.
Why, You may ask?
Well, IMO there are no other production company besides Fällkniven, who has the cutting capability that they offer.
BRK knows how a knife should be built and how to function.
If there is one beside FK & BRK, it is Hess Knives, but they are often hard to get.

Fällkniven is the top brand to choose IMO, but FK's have become pricey compared to 10 years ago.
So following Your logic and my own, I don't buy new knives anymore except for slipjoints.
However I do enjoy my collection and I think others should build their own to enjoy.
If people asks about BRK's I can certainly recommend them, as they are production knives on a very high level.

Maybe You can recommend a brand at the same levels as BRK, FK & HK?
If so I would be interested to know about it.

Regards
Mikael

Many people especially new people don't know the history of Mike stewart screwing around with peoples lives. Brian evans wasn't the first, nor is it the only issue BRK has had. As far as knives with good cutting performance, I'd strongly consider any knives made by Nathan Carothers or shannon steel labs, our craftsman here make knives for damn close to the price of some of these production knives.. In any case, thanks for hearing me out.

I have a knife on the way from Shannon Steel Labs, and I am very excited. I assume he ships them in some sort of carbide box, otherwise they’d cut themselves free in transit. Maybe a foot thick of concrete instead of carbide.

Colin is a good guy and friend of mine, I have two knives I am waiting on from him. If the tip shows up missing I'll start a thread here :D

I have said it before and I say it again:
I think Mike Stewart adds more to the knifecommunity than what he takes.

As for Nathans knives I think they look great, but they aren't readibly availible and I guess they aren't convex ground?
Does he make hidden tangs for us Northerners?
The hand chillout on full exposed tangs doesn't work in my hands anymore, so I prefer my hidden tangs.

I'll checkout Shannon Steel Labs as I don't know anything about them.

Regards
Mikael

I guess I am unaware of what he adds to the community that overshadows his screwing people over. For hidden tang knives I am a Ben Seward fan, but they are significantly higher priced than production knives for the most part.

In all honesty, I have a knife addiction problem and I leave so as not to go into major debt. lol.
Considering you are relapsing currently, I'd say you're doing a fine job of managing your addiction :D

By the way, I do like carothers and have tested several in extreme ways and they passed. I know nothing about shannon labs, but have seen some of his postings. It's all about the heat treat, and less about the steel.

Here is my Carothers along side some others:

I understand and this is what I meant with getting the opinions from both sides, before I'm making my opinion.

Congrats to that Seward! What's not to admire!
I have seen a few favorites in the Bowie of the year thread in the Customs & Handmade forum.
They are all out of my range though, as my main hobby is sailing and boats swallow a lot of resources.

Regards

I remember seeing you post the testing if I am not mistaken. I had one of his EDC models in 3v and 4v, both fantastic. Here's the 3v one being put to use about a year ago https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/reason-985-to-carry-a-knife-warning-graphic.1549310/
and agreed on the heat treat.

Hobbies eat up money, that's for sure. One of my other hobbies is motorcycles, it's a wonder I don't carry a jarbenza. Thanks on the Seward compliments, freaking love that knife.
