Christmas music.......

OK.... I got issues with "The First Noel"...... "The first Noel, that the angels did sing, was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay...."
So.... "Noel" is French. There were no French people then. No French language. Just a bunch of smelly, barbaric Gauls who were fond of Roman wine.
The "shepherds" would probably be speaking Aramaic or somesuch.....

:D

Excuse me, are you sure shepherds didn't start the French language as we know it today. History shows the saying, Excuse My French, translation: I'm talking Crap, was an old shepherds saying after spending so much time talking to each other in fields and pastures littered with meadow muffins. For more on this subject, visit the W&C forum. :D

"Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys on the Ralph Emery Show discussing and performing a classic Christmas song, "Christmas Time's a Coming". Dale Morris (fiddle), Blake Williams (banjo), Tater Tate (Bass), and Wayne Lewis (guitar)."

Oh dear. Even worse than I remembered. Wife gave me a list of stuff to get from WalMart. Spent 30 minutes in there. And yep, they had on the holiday music already. Blaring loud. Everything from religious hymns, to the long-stale standards, to the trite remakes by 'pop' stars.

What could be worse? Guess I already answered that above in my first post, the only thing worse would be schoolchildren singing. :grumpy:

Well Bob, it is worse. Being run over by the stampede of shoppers pushing through the door on a Black Friday morning and being a door mat as the crowd of shoppers walk over you, not being able to hearing you favorite Christmas tune (Burl Ives - Holly Jolly Christmas :D), with some women's UGG boot on your ear.

Oh how I tried to forget this story. There I was, standing at the entrance of the store, in a Winter gale, snow falling all around with the line forming at the door, at long last, after an 18 hour wait wearing a Bear Grylls summer jacket covered by a Les Stroud signature series space blanket, orange garbage bag combo, the doors open, crowd screaming, We Want the anniversary edition cabbage patch doll!.....................sorry, I can't go on with this story, the memories are too painful to remember. :D

I really can't stand "Rockin' around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee. Someone shoot me!!

The Burl Ives - Holly Jolly Christmas was pumped through the speakers at a place of employment, to where I couldn't stand the tune for years/decades after working there.

Sometimes I feel fortunate to be hard of hearing. All I have to do is turn off my hearing aid.

Do you hear what I hear?

I find repetitive Christmas music in retail stores to be very annoying. I enjoy it when it is background - no voice.

But I do admit to a vice of enjoying "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" while I am out.

I listen to the 24/7 FM station at work. They played a song today that was weird. It was a lady singing all off beat telling a story of some sort. It was very hard to listen. I'll try and catch the name next time I hear it. I searched the station playlist, but didn't find anything odd. Anyone know which song I'm talking about?

I tried, you got anything else to go on?

It was horrible.... I can hear the beat and her singing, but I can't remember the words. It is a new song-probably this year.

I will look at the playlist again.
