Chuck's Heart Attack

Any news on the status of Chuck Buck?

Following is a copy of email from Chuck's wife to Larry Oden; I don't think that Larry would mind sharing:

Chuck update Monday Feb 20, 2012

Everyday shows big improvement. All drainage and other tubes were
removed Sunday morning; his greatest source of post op pain. He was up
sitting in a chair yesterday though he much preferred being in bed as he
was so droopy. Couldn't get more than half a sentence out before his
eyes closed and he drifted off. I expect today he will be more alert
without so much pain medication.

Sarah and Tan (her little boy) and I are staying at a hotel across the
street from the hospital. We are getting ice and snow now and through
this week and I didn't want to get trapped up on the hill. Our driveway
becomes an ice skating rink!!! The hotel offers a good discount for
families with members in the hospital. It's great to be just across the
street.

Biggest concerns mentioned by doctor yesterday morning and today
(Monday) is preventing the development of pneumonia as there is still a
portion of his left lung (lower part) that has not opened up so they are
encouraging deep breathing, sitting in chair and walking. He has been up
walking 4x today with more on the schedule and working on the "breathing
apparatus" which he doesn't like very well. Breathing exercises work to
open the lungs. They are watching him closely for all complications that
follow open heart surgery and will not let him go home until he is
ready. There was a mention of Wednesday but then later said they wanted
to monitor him for a couple more days. I know they will let us know when
the time is right.

Thanks for all your prayers, love, concern and words of encouragement
sent our way. I am thankful he is still here.

Thanks TS-I hope he does those breathing treatments-they do stink but are the best thing for him for sure.

Your so right Fritz. Funny thing was that he was not doing it right. I tried to tell him but I think it wasnt sinking in due to the meds he is on. So when the nurse came in I basically ratted him out! :) She saw how he was doing it and then she chastized him for cheating.
I cant blame him, it really does hurt to do the exercise correctly.
Its really good to see him up and walking around already!

Thanks for the update. Joe, I hope I don't say stuff around you that I don't want getting back to my nurse (my wife). :) DM

Thanks to Tin Sue for the update. Good news, for sure.

Yeah, you would know, huh Joe? Not too long ago the nurse would have been chastizing you huh? :)

Takes some brass to rat out the boss though;) Good for you.

Went by the factory today.

The girls I spoke to advise that he should be home by tomorrow. (Disclaimer: the words "from what I've heard" were part of that estimate.)

I was happy to hear that.

(I got the feeling I'm not the only drop-in they've had asking about Chuck.)

Just came across this thread, glad to hear all went well and you will be in my prayers for complete recovery.

True, and a well-done to Joe.

The best friend is somebody who will rat you out if necessary for your own good.

:)

yes Joe keep on him about the breathing ... good breath is nothing to be taken for granted !!

Thanks guys but if the truth be known, his daughter was also in the room and I may, or may not have been hiding behind her when everything went down.

Chuck does not do computers all that much so I am going to print this entire thread and bring it to him this weekend. I am sure he will be very encouraged by your kind words, thoughts and prayers.

He will be in my family's thoughts and prayers as well! Here's hoping he gets home soon!

Joe, Tell Birthday Buddy that I hope it didnt happen when he saw my pile of BuckMaster stuff to be signed. ;) Just Kidding.
OUR Thoughts and prayers to you Chuck from your Greek Connection.
My new saying for you like Seinfeilds "Soup Nazi" "NO Bakalava for you, okay maybe a small peice".
That just means more for Joe, Maralee,DA Boys and Lori..:D

Dear Chuck, Best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery. You get on home as Lori will take good care of you. DM

I just now saw this today. My prayers are with you. I saw first hand what a huge difference prayers make when I had my triple bypass!

If all you BCCI members will check the web site's member topics, you'll find a nice thread about Mr. Buck (started by Joe Houser). It has a very recent (yesterday afternoon) update posted and a nice picture of Joe and Mr.Buck at the hospital.
