Cigars and Blades...Modern style

If you want good cheap cigars, try Old Fashioned by Mike's Cigars out of FL. They are Partagas and Macanudo seconds. Pick the Partagas/Macanudo size you like, match it to the same sized Old Fashioned, and you'll get a good cigar. A bundle is around $30. Sometimes shipping is included. They cannot advertise them as seconds. The only flaws are usually either cosmetic or a less than perfect burn. They taste good either way.

These pictures should have a glass of brandy or scotch as well..... I'll see what I have.

If your looking to buy a box there are two good options. 1. Jr cigars has auctions on their site and I've consistently gotten great cigars ( Diamond Crown, Montecristo White, H.Upmann Cameroon) for less than half the normal cost.
2. Cigars International has a great selection available in 5 packs and also have a sister site called Cigarbid.com, where also I've paid less than half the normal price. It's great because you just bid whatever your willing to spend and if you win your in. You can also bid on 5 packs and singles on cigarbid. Four months after I found cigarbid I had 2300 (not a typo) cigars in my humidor. My recommendation for a cigar for you is ! CAO GOLD ! Nice mild, tasty, mellow smoke available in about 5 or 6 sizes. A second recommendation is Camacho Triple Maduro. Now don't let the looks intimidate you. It's a surprisingly mellow smoke for the what it is and how it looks. My all time favorite is Arturo Fuente Anejo. It's stronger than any of those mentioned above, but the wrapper is aged in cognac barrel for 5yrs I believe. It's just an incredible smoke. If you, or anyone else has any questions feel free to email me. Jfk111070@gmail.com. Good luck with the search
I'd like to say that this post has already cost me several hundred dollars through JR's. Tonight I put in four bids on cigar bid also. Already out growing the humidor I just bought. Still having hell getting it over 65% humidity too. Oh well, learning on the go. Thanks again for all the info.

Edit: Just found the free fall auctions and bought ten Rocky Patel's. This may be more dangerous than knife buying.

I'm not sure this is an appropriate post, but I need cigar advice. I know there are cigar forums, but this is where I lurk. I used to smoke cigars years ago and am now dipping my feet (mouth?) into the waters again. I can only smoke one every week or so, and I need advice. I put some knives (I have a fair collection of 300 or so) out on the coffee table and smoke a cigar; it is very soothing. My problem is somewhat complicated. Years ago, I used to smoke MonteCruz. but I know I was paying for the box and they were much longer than I can now smoke. If any of you would advise me on some mild, good smokes to go with contemplation and bourbon (Bulleit or Jeffersons lower end (not ocean aged or Presidential) or the like, I would appreciate it. A fixed income keeps me from the 20$ and up cigars (as it mostly keeps me form the 400$ and up knives), but I am hoping to find good cigars which are mild, good draw, even burn, short and with no days long after taste. Please help, gentlemen (or Ladies). In Vegas there is, to my knowledge, only one good cigar shop, which is expensive, so it would help if I could order online (or, perhaps buy 1 or 2 from one of you). Again, apologies to the Mods if this is not appropriate, but I really could use some help. Thank you. (If it would be better if you messaged me, that is fine). Lou

The Las Vegas Paiute Tribal Smoke Shop on Main just north of Washington has a great selection and no taxes. Their prices aren't amazing but they generally seem to be on par with online retailers like Cigars International. BTW, CI has a nice selection of 2nds. The "super-premium 2nds" and Punch Rothschilds. They have Rocky Patel, Perdomo and other 2nds. Just like the real thing but with a blemish or very slight size/shape issue. I love me a good expensive cigar but I have a coolidor full of inexpensive, but premium cigars.

Definitely a dangerous arena to play in. So much good stuff it's so hard not to bid on one more item. Over the course of 15 months I dropped $17 grand and was smoking 5-6 top shelf smokes a day. Whatever I do I tend to over do. Knives included.
Haven't bought a cigar in 3 yrs, haven't smoked one in 2 but I enjoyed the he'll out of them all. Good luck

So do you still have a lot of that $17K in cigars stashed away untouched the last two years?

Smoked most, gave some as gifts. Loved every one. Taste so much better when you get a deal on ridiculous cigars

Just wait until you develop a taste for Habano Cigars, and start having them sent from Europe...

That being said- do yourself a favor and use Boveda packs with your desired humidity. use more packs than you think you need, and ensure that your humidor is sealing up decently (Lock it, if it has a lock). The Green foam, Crystals, gels and wet kitty litters are a hassle I don't bother dealing with anymore. Boveda is where it's at.

Thanks for the info. Been using the weird tubes of gel from Amazon and finally have it between 65-70. Will definitely try the boveda next. The European orders have definitely crossed my mind. Wasn't sure how well that worked though.

No worries! I keep Boveda 69's in my box. And if you would like a few reputable companies to get Habano's from (LCdH affiliated sites), send me a PM.
