I agree with you.
I do like those smaller montecristos though.

A photo of myself and my Dad in Havana in 1959.
I always wonder what he was smoking here:

Wow, your dad looks like an explorer right out of an old adventure serial! What indigenous jungle tribe did he discover?? That is super awesome. Thanks for sharing these photos!

Happy to find this thread, while i am new to being seriously into knives i am an avid cigar smoker.

Sitting down to smoke some ribs today so i grabbed a few out of the humidor and have been carrying the Jernigan Asp i picked up at blade show

Nice photo, would love a Padron... can't afford a box right now unfortunately.

I'm not sure this is an appropriate post, but I need cigar advice. I know there are cigar forums, but this is where I lurk. I used to smoke cigars years ago and am now dipping my feet (mouth?) into the waters again. I can only smoke one every week or so, and I need advice. I put some knives (I have a fair collection of 300 or so) out on the coffee table and smoke a cigar; it is very soothing. My problem is somewhat complicated. Years ago, I used to smoke MonteCruz. but I know I was paying for the box and they were much longer than I can now smoke. If any of you would advise me on some mild, good smokes to go with contemplation and bourbon (Bulleit or Jeffersons lower end (not ocean aged or Presidential) or the like, I would appreciate it. A fixed income keeps me from the 20$ and up cigars (as it mostly keeps me form the 400$ and up knives), but I am hoping to find good cigars which are mild, good draw, even burn, short and with no days long after taste. Please help, gentlemen (or Ladies). In Vegas there is, to my knowledge, only one good cigar shop, which is expensive, so it would help if I could order online (or, perhaps buy 1 or 2 from one of you). Again, apologies to the Mods if this is not appropriate, but I really could use some help. Thank you. (If it would be better if you messaged me, that is fine). Lou

I only buy from 'JR Cigars' online, no tax, free shipping with a code easily found online, 3 day shipping, the most something costs me is $4.00 , usually in the 2.80 to 4.00 range.
I buy 5 packs, 10 packs, 20 packs/boxes.
I buy:
Henry Clay (Rothchilde), Belinda Black (Exquisito), Las Cabrillas (Cortez), JR Edition Limitada, JR Ultimate (Rothschild), JR Edicion Limitada Alternitave (Montecristo C) Jose Marti (Robusto).

$20.00 a cigar?... no way José.

Good info. I think I'm looking for something fairly similar to katanas.

If your looking to buy a box there are two good options. 1. Jr cigars has auctions on their site and I've consistently gotten great cigars ( Diamond Crown, Montecristo White, H.Upmann Cameroon) for less than half the normal cost.
2. Cigars International has a great selection available in 5 packs and also have a sister site called Cigarbid.com, where also I've paid less than half the normal price. It's great because you just bid whatever your willing to spend and if you win your in. You can also bid on 5 packs and singles on cigarbid. Four months after I found cigarbid I had 2300 (not a typo) cigars in my humidor. My recommendation for a cigar for you is ! CAO GOLD ! Nice mild, tasty, mellow smoke available in about 5 or 6 sizes. A second recommendation is Camacho Triple Maduro. Now don't let the looks intimidate you. It's a surprisingly mellow smoke for the what it is and how it looks. My all time favorite is Arturo Fuente Anejo. It's stronger than any of those mentioned above, but the wrapper is aged in cognac barrel for 5yrs I believe. It's just an incredible smoke. If you, or anyone else has any questions feel free to email me. Jfk111070@gmail.com. Good luck with the search

I didn't ask the question, but really appreciating the responses. Thanks

We've had such a beautiful September I've spent all my time smoking and not posting.
