CK Exclusive: Fox Cutlery "Recoil" Gunstock

Here it is. Excellent quality. The blade profile, blade to handle ratio and crisp swedges really make it stand out. As mentioned nice and sharp out of the box.

Is that a CT scan of Sylvester with Tweety in his stomach?

These look fabulous. I just need to choose between Bone Micarta and Bocote. Size looks about perfect. Keep the pics coming!

I am hoping to receive mine in the next day or two. Through no fault of Mike's, the USPS crawls from Oklahoma to Oregon - usually takes about a week to get here. Strange that I can get a parcel delivered from the UK or Bulgaria in less time than I can get a parcel delivered from within the US at times. Another thing of note - it takes a parcel a lot longer to travel from California to Oregon than it does to receive something from Florida. The pathways are interesting.

Anyway, I chose Bocote awhile back and I am looking forward to having it in hand - judging by the pics so far, it really suits the knife, in my opinion.

The SanFrancisco and Los Angeles hubs are horrible... and I live in California.
They often route my packages through Hawaii or somewhere back East.
Had a package start in Kansas, come to California, back out to Ohio, then back to California, and is now currently in Michigan. 🤪

I had a knife travel from a maker in Michigan to Portland, then get sent elsewhere out of state, routing through Hawaii as well. It was the strangest pathing I had ever experienced with USPS.

Got a bone micarta coming and as soon as it gets here she's getting dipped in some color. Do you guys think the titanium will stain or are the covers removable?

my handle choices were eliminated, was thinking about getting bone micarta but that knife looks great in Bocote Wood  , like stag I've had bad luck with Cocobolo and Bocote Wood so I'm on the fence

You might want to consider the lava. The handles have a lenticular appearance that change when you move the knife. IMHO, very cool! Reminds me of those 3-D cards I’d get when I was a kid.

Mine arrived. It’s beautiful. Part of me wishes I’d grabbed the red slip but kids said brown… and the brown is nice so…
Walk and talk is a little smooshy but not bad. Knife is very nice. Super duper happy.

I retrieved my Recoil from the mailbox today and aside from a couple of minor critiques, I am pretty pleased with it.

In anticipation of its arrival, I had been carrying my GEC #44 all of last week and over the weekend. Though it is a pattern that I had not instantly warmed to back when I got it initially, a week of carry and use has gotten me a bit more familiar and I've come to even enjoy it.

Being that it is of brass construction and has a secondary blade, the GEC has more heft than the Recoil - it is also a bit longer. That said, they are roughly of similar size. The clip blade is a thing of beauty - ground nice and thin with a nice full belly.

Like the Vipers I have, this knife has integral liners/bolsters - it cleans up the look considerably and is less busy than CK's LionSteel Euro Barlows.

Minot points of critique - the woods covers, though beautiful, are not finished the best. There are some chips on the pile side and the transitions from cover to bolster are very uneven on the mark side. Nothing a little sandpaper won't fix but it does contribute negatively to the already rather angular feeling grip of the knife.

Overall though, I am very pleased with the knife - it is sharp as heck, it is slim and lightweight, and it is an excellent addition to my Italian lineup.
