I use pmc for my plinking

Thanks guys.

Obviously, I'm new to these guns.
A friend has the AR that we are going to play with.
Ammunition sure can get complicated!

I'll need to ask him exactly what to get I guess.
There are a lot of choices out there.

He simply said "just get some .223 ammo"

Something tells me that there may be a new rifle in my future...

Thanks a lot guys.

I'm going to pick up some of those from palmetto.

people are telling me the AR-15 doesn't have much recoil.

I'm hearing that the AK will be a better test of a weapon light.

if I only had as many guns as I do flashlights....

Get both - You will not regret it :D

As far as ammo - go with the 55gr FMJ -

Sick kitchen blades Jerm.

Rick...that looks like a really nice gun, even though I know nothing about them!

I'll add that one thing I appreciated about Palmetto is that they didn't price gouge on things like magazines after the big election rush. They priced their ammo competitively, and were on a par or better than the lowest prices, but they didn't jack everything else up.

I'm in the midst of an all out war with Lyme Disease.
Been suffering some terrible Flu-like symptoms for about 2 weeks now.
Just got meds a few days ago.
Feeling about 50% today.
I'm generally never sick, so this is a real downer.

Dude, how about an update on the Lyme? At one point a few years back, I was convinced I had it. I'd been hiking in Central Park, NYC just prior and I had all kinds of neurological crap going on (tingling in extremities, muscle aches, etc.). I spent a lot of time reading Lyme discussion boards, which only convinced me further that I might have it. All tests were negative, though folks debate all the time about the efficacy of the testing. Anyway, it turned out to be chemical something-or-another to do with serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, etc. and believe it or not, more regular exercise cleared things up.

How are you doing?

Edited to add: There's a lesson here about diagnosing on the Internet. :p

Thanks for asking.

Well, here's how things went down for me.
I caught a fever, then came the sweats and chills and body aches. Basically felt like I had a real bad flu for about a week.
But, no respiratory crap.
Then I started feeling better for 2-3 days. Thought it was just some fluke virus or something.

Then I found the "bullseye rash" behind my shoulder. That's when the red flag went up.
Strangely, I got the fever back the next day again. Then to the doctor a day later, and started my Doxycyclene for 6 weeks.
Had a few more days of terrible fever, chills aches, sweats, etc.
So, there went about 2 weeks of basically being in bed 20 hours a day.
After that, I started getting some energy back. For about 2 weeks I could handle about 3 hours of work a day.
So, eventually, I was doing ok for a full day, but still feeling off quite a bit.

Turns out, when I was done with the antibiotics, I started feeling a lot better.
I think it has a lot to do with the "rules" for the meds.
no dairy, no eating a couple hours before or after, can't lie down for an hour after, can't take vitamins, Can't get much sun exposure, etc, etc.
Basically, it really messes with your diet and routine.
Once I got my freedom back to run my day as I pleased, I felt much better.

So, I never saw the tick. But when the rash showed up with those symptoms, I knew for sure.

It really sucked, but I feel totally normal now.
I don't think that I will have any lasting effects.
I'm guessing that I caught it within a week or 2 of being bitten.

Be careful out there.

I play in the bushes and sleep in the dirt all the time. Surprised that I didn't catch it earlier.
Getting ready for a hike next week.
Treating pants, socks, shoes, hat with Permethrin, and wearing full netting.
The "trail" is very poorly maintained. It's basically bushwacking most of the time.
I hate DEET, but may start using it more often.

I'm thinking a DEET / Permethrin cocktail might not be too bad of an idea.

I took that 308 barreled action, that was in the AICS stock to the gunsmith yesterday, its getting cut from a 20" to a 16" and threaded,
