brian, my terminology might not be correct. You have a grind (flat, hollow, convex, etc.) on the blade, either symmetrical, or on one side of the blade only (chisel) which goes up to 1/4th of the blade height on scandis, to 1/2 on a sabre grind, or all the way up to the spine in v-flat grinds. And then you have the edge + bevel, which is about 1 mm high (plus minus, depending on the maker). It can also be ground in more shapes, eg. V-ground or convex. Anyway, that's the part you sharpen when the knife gets dull.
... Yeah, bevel is the right term, i think. The knife has a grind on one side of the blade and a bevel on the other side. Seems quite an extreme case of assymetrical grind to me
Cabra, oh, no problem then. Lol :d
Morning, gentlemen.
I have a question for the chisel experts. Let's say there is a knife with a chisel hollow ground blade - and the edge is ground on the opposite side from the grind, on the flat side of the blade. What would you think about it? Is it any good?
Love the millwork on the scale. Screw that, I love it all.
microbevel
I wear Polartec, too. But have wool socks. Hope I'm not in danger...
