A BiG HONKIN, DERANGED, BANJO PICKIN, RED HATIN, DRUNK WATER FROM A HOLLER LOG BLADE.

I'm gonna write that one down and hang it on the wall.

I think Rumsfeld recommended duct tape and plastic sheeting to protect against charred cheese gas attacks IIRC:rolleyes:

Yangdu wrote this am and said she wants to wait on picts until the edge is right. I only have a little metal to remove. Later today, I will try once more the camera and see.

Never make light of cheese or plastic smoke clouds.

OK, I want one. Sign me up. I'll prepay if i gotta. I like the 2lb weight of this. It's the nuke proof design that Cobalt had envisioned. If any come in with a non-straight edge, i'll take it:) Fantastic, barbaric, basic. The devil's chef's knife.

OK- I don't know if you can see this, but the edge rises ever so slightly towards the cho. I sanded that off this morning, and am debating further 'roundeness'.

Frankly, it looks much much prettier than that photo.
I took it with me in the blizzard outside to see if the auto mechanic could take a photo. He was in there, but the storm made his shop look dark and vacant so I just drove by. Called him later. I had to carry the Bowie and a 30 pound child through the storm, and believe me, I wasn't dropping either. I don't know if I can get back down my hill this afternoon to get the other kid from school.

Anyway, the edge is nearly flat now. Today I took off a 1.5" limb from a chunk of firewood with it, trimming to go into the wood burning stove. Snick.

More later.

I'm glad you like it.

On one side of this proto Bura actually has three fullers- on the side shown, though it is not clear from glare, there are the standard two. He just polished a plain between two and ended up with three- it looks awesome.

This knife is actually a tad longer than the old style Bowie I have hear at home. More later. I now must take Beater truck through the snow drifts to rescue my oldest from school.

I'm just going to keep saying how much I like this blade.

With all this excitement about Cobalt not withstanding, I have to say the cheesetoast story was hilarious. Thanks munk:D

Yeah...put some beater scales on there, and I bet you could throw it without fearing damage...

The handle is slightly thinner- the tang- than the old Bowie. This may be just on this specimen, or Bura may have done it to put the weight forward. With all that mass, I think carrots and stuff in the kitchen will go down easily.

I have a large Chinese cleaver, actually, two of them, and I can't wait to do some side by side.

"It slices, it dices, it chops wood for the camp and then removes the legs from the venison. It'll dig your rig out of snow or mud, and will signal an airplane for help."

I got Beater truck stuck in the snow. 390 engine, 16" wheels, and stuck. I dug out and made it to the school in time to see a neighbor pull out with Carter. Broke trail home and called Yangdu.

The next batch will come with a straight edge- flush on table.

OK, I want one...

BUT... The cho needs to be changed into some kind of kitchen gadget... I know I have seen one that looks just like a cho... I think it is used for pitting something or other...
So move the cho back about 3/4" to get rid of the cho creep, and change it's shape a bit, and you have a real winner!

Hey, you think we may be able to make them re-design the cho into a bottle opener? Uncle Bill might support this...or maybe not.:o
