Coffee

I've got the same addiction.
Ghosts is loaded on my gaming computer and will be the last time I use a computer for games of this type. The servers never got straightened out enough for my satisfaction so Xbox has my business for gaming. I'm waiting for my 360 to give up the ghost before I buy the One though.

Aww I miss cod. My PS3 died and we never upgraded after that. I used to one Socom too!

I like the movie Fearless and watched it when it was released but I don't agree with what Jet Li said. Maybe you can enlighten me? How do you embed vids too, thanks?

I think what he was saying is that there are many different kinds of tea or wushu or in our case, coffee. The coffee doesn't care which is better. Only humans decide what they like.

There are a couple of ways of imbedding a video. The tool bar has a little symbol that looks like movie film. Click on the symbol and copy and paste the url of the video that you want to embed. Example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoCQyEtgVdw

That's the easy way. I can't seem to show you the hard way. The software won't let me.

Ok, thanks for clarifying it.

A video from SCCA coffee symposium about wine evaluations. http://youtu.be/Jo5NKQRZ5Ls.

Helene Hopfer: Experts, Evaluation, and Establishing "Good."

Dr. Helene Hopfer wants to know who decides what “good” wine is. Is it the wine marketers that entice us with beautifully designed labels, the wine gurus that help us feel like experts for choosing a wine that they describe as “intellectually satisfying,” or is it more simple than that? To find out, a Descriptive Analysis Panel was assembled to evaluate wine in two phases. The first phase established a common, more familiar vocabulary for wine descriptors. Phase two involved individual assessments of wine samples. Wine consumers had a wide range of what “good” meant to them. Dr. Hopfer’s advice for determining good? “Drink what you want to drink and what you love. You are the ultimate judge.

Wine. It's just sour grapes to me. I guess that I'm a heathen. I have a very good vintage of Dr. Pepper. I think it was May or June.

Sour or ROTTEN? :D

The way my kids drink soda I'd be lucky to have a vintage of Thursday.

So what are your opinions on blends of coffee beans?

I've just recently tried a couple or three of NYC's most highly touted coffee spots. I went with single origin coffees each time. They were all pretty much really good. But I don't rank them as highly as Gregory's house blend which is the most balanced out of almost any coffee that I have tried to date. Sometimes I love a good bold coffee or a single note hitting coffee. But then I get my regular drip and coffee and feel wholly satisfied by it.

I think my favorite blend is Small World Black and Tan.

For our Black and Tan, we split the blend evenly between a dark roasted, organic Mexican coffee and Indonesian coffee roasted to our traditional East Coast Roast.

The only "flavor profile" I ever got was with a good blend. I've been drinking this over roasted stuff so long it's dulled my senses a bit. :D

I do my own blends.
I usually have a lot of single origin varieties around and after getting an idea on their individual qualities, good and bad, I blend them together to the perfect personal profile.
Definitely looks like some science going on in my kitchen.
In front of me right now is a blend of my local Deathwish dark roast, that needed to be blended!, Ethiopian medium dark, Nicaraguan medium dark, and Kenya AA medium roast.
It's almost perfect.

The medium cuts the bitter in the dark just enough and the dark erases some of the fruity/herbalness that is sometimes not coffee like enough for me.

I ran out of coffee last week and went to Whole Foods on a whim. It's been about a year since I was last there. I wanted to see if anything had changed. No, still a monumental ripoff. I paid $27 for a pound of coffee. The coffee is good, actually it's awesome. I'll buy from the distributor next time.

The grocery coop I belong to signed a long-term contract with the roaster of coffee I mention above. I can get the same stuff for $13 -$17 a pound from my coop, depending on circumstances. Sweet! It's the best bean I've found in the area so far.
