Coffee

Nice scales on those mules! I have Halpern scales on mine.
Does anyone know the the recipe profiles for the blade steel material and the tempering profiles of these super steels? :p

My pre-game cup with large Lum Chinese and my new Maratac copper AAA light. Pretty cool little piece of gear.

Good to see everyone posts g all these yummy espressos. I havn't been out much this week as I had sinus surgery on MO day. They drilled 4 holes into my sinus cavities to widen the openings. Needless to say my face is hurting lol.

Ouch! You couldn't breathe and I couldn't get my nose to stop running. Take care of yourself and get well soon! This thread needs more pics of your delicious looking drinks.

The Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco is credited with popularizing the Irish Coffee in America, and today the place serves more than 2,000 Irish Coffees a day.

Buena Vista's Irish Coffee recipe for your Thanksgiving.
6oz preheated glass
Two sugar cubes
4oz of brewed Peerless coffee
1.5oz of Tullamore Dew whiskey
1.5oz of whipped cream.

Taza Coffe House custom E.D.C. blend... (I kid you not, the name of the espresso is EDC Lol)

Nice pic and knife you have! Been on the fence about the Rubicon but your pic has pushed me over now. How do you like the Rubicon?
I like Taza. I had the Andante, Camien blend when I was there but didn't see the EDC blend. Taza had more caramel sweetness compared to Andante's recipe of making it more fruity.

Lots of quality cafes in the Pasadena area. Where have you been and what were your favorites?

Hey there, you will love the Rubicon! I am super picky about detent, bearing grittiness the drag the detent ball creates on the blade surface when it opens or close. This knife is so smooth, It's every bit as smooth as my FG Bodega. The only knife smoother is my L42 Thorburn. The Rubicon is the only flipper i have that is a true "push button" flipper. Fit and finish is excellent, my only gripe is the lock bar face is beveled so it goes right to 50% I would have loved an earlier lock up but I think this was done so that there would be no stick.

I love hanging out at TAZA in Arcadia. The owner is a friend of mine and the guy who taught me a thing or two about good quality espresso. I haven't had a chance to check out too many places. I was hanging out more at "Buster's" in So Pas but I'm closer to Arcadia now. Buster's has some quality roasted beans but they do their own. They had their own in house roaster but he moved on. Not sure what they're using now.

Have you been to "Proof" bakery on Atwater? The owner is also a friend, he's got some nice espresso in the hopper. I think last time it was BlueBottle.

I've had a bunch of the standards, Blue Bottle, Stump Town, Bows and Arrows. I think my favorite was "Suits and Knives" Dempsey Espresso (Leo from Coffee Colab DTLA was always hanging out at Taza and by default there was always some Dempsey there)

The Owner of Proof, hooked me up with some "Heart" coffee. They roast out of Portland... Holy smokes this stuff is fantastic! It's their Stereo blend with 50% Guatemala, Monte De Oro and 50% Guatemala, El Amate.
Caramel, Dark Chocolate, Lychee and very creamy... My absolute favorite at the moment.

Next time you are at Taza try one of these Gravity Syphon extractors... Makes for some incredibly smooth coffee.
Happy Thanksgiving one and all!

Spaced out !

So this cute Italian chick wanted to brew coffee away from harmful Earth effects .She went into space and took a specially made and designed machinetta [coffee maker ,made by Lavazza] with her so she could have her daily coffee fix no matter where she was !!
She is Samantha Christoforetti , Italy's astronaut ,now in the space ship somewhere out there ! A very smart capable woman !!
I wonder if Lavazza will sell those machines for us ordinary mortals .Or does it only work in outer space ?? Would you buy one of the coffee makers ??
