Coffee

One of the Sweet Maria's Espresso Workshop blends, all Central American in this case.

Busse Bowie Team 6 (BT6), stripped and satin finished.

My first cold brew in my French press went well. It was on the weak side, but the flavor was spot on. I used a 4:1 ratio.

I also got this surprise in the mail!!

I've got a French press and some Komodo myself, what's the 4:1 ratio, cups of water to grounds? And can I use any grind?

Oh nos! I bought some (GASP!) instant coffee. I was at Safeway in the coffee aisle and walked past this. I have been wanting to try it for years, but never did, so today I said "what the hell?" With great trepidation I made a cup. Ya know what? It's not bad. I don't know about it being espresso, but it's better than a lot of regular coffee I have had. I would buy it again.

I have to say I'm a skeptic... I may have to try it! I roast all my own coffee, and do the same for the coffee shop I run. I just got a brand new PNG that I'm pretty pumped to roast. The current favorite light roast at the shop is the El Salvador. Cup notes: Melon, butter, floral, and toffee brittle.

That's the big difference between you and me. I am 98.3% on the way to 75 years old and my taste buds, along with many other parts don't work very well. I just want something that tastes like coffee.

Melon, butter, floral, and toffee brittle? If I wanted fruit salad and candy, I would buy them. :D *

*No insult intended. MY BIL is a wine afficiando. I tell him that it's all sour grapes to me.

Haha I totally understand. Most people don't go down the road of cupping or tasting. It's a while different world, just like any other area. All about those little subtleties that most don't pick up on. Wine tasting was a brief encounter for me, I enjoy wine and beer but don't drink much these days.

Over the years I have become quite a coffee snob. I can choke down gas station coffee in a pinch, but usually grab a Monster for a quick fix than be insulted by "dark roast" gas station crap! Someone on this forum, Cchu I think, sent me a bag of Gregory's Coffee. That is the first time I have ever tasted the floral, fruity flavors as described on the bag.

Uffda, try an Aeropress.... you will get more flavor out of your coffee!!!

I have an Aeropress, a press pot, a drip coffee maker and a pour over. So far, I like the pour over best.

To me, there are four kinds of coffee. Good, drinkable, barely drinkable and :barf:.

I appreciate the fix! Yeah, it's a bit more involved than a drip brew for sure. That's half the fun though. The preparation of a cup of coffee makes it more enjoyable for me. When I want a quick fix I just toss back a few shots of espresso.

I found another on that I don't like. The price was right. It was free at Safeway. By the time I got there, this was the only one they had left.

That could be emergency stash.... It's better than NO coffee!

My taste is for the volcanic island stuff from Indonesia (ish) -- Bali, Sumatra, and the like. I can stomach some of the others, but if I had my choice...... :D

How about a coffee thread SECRET SANTA CHRISTMAS EXCHANGE! We did it a couple of years ago and it was great! A lot of new coffee to try and shinny edged things too!
If we get enough interests in a SECRET SANTA type exchange we can decide on the rules as a group. If you want in please post in the thread that you want in!! I will update the list as it grows.

Look back a few pages and see how the last one went! It was awesome! Let's try to get one going for this year!! It starts about page 49!
