Cold Steel 2011

There is a term for someone who expects to be able to catch a 36oz returning boomerang as well. Toothless.

Well they got a few nice things here and there, IMHO.

The two that I will definitely get are the 11HL (= the Hold Out II Plain Edge)
and the 62NGX (=the Espada G10 XL). Definitely the Espadas at a more affordable price are what caught my eye. Can't wait to get my hands on that 62NGX.

Does anyone have any idea when these will be available?

I've been looking forward to the new Voyagers for a long time, and will definitely be grabbing one of those. The Leatherneck looks pretty groovy too.

I'm a bit disappointed that their new Tulwar is just a rehilted 1796. While European blades were often rehilted by Indian cutlers (and typically referred to as a "firangi", meaning "foreigner") it does little to expand CS's range of cutting swords in terms of performance characteristics. :(

I understand why they came out with a non-returning boomerang, since the returning variety were actually only used for hunting birds, IIRC, since it would return if you missed. You still had to run and go get it if you scored a hit though. That being said, I'd have preferred for them to have made a steel boomerang like this:

Damn it ! Why did I have to buy the large Espada last year? As the CS blurb says ; the cheaper Espadas are more "practical and tactical" than the original expensive models, and I think they look better. Anyway this gives me the opportunity to purchase the XL Espada for a more reasonable price. The pilum looks pretty cool too.

The description of the Axe Gang hatchet is something else.

The sharp corners of the edge will easily pierce the thickest skull and the razor sharp edge will shear through flesh and bone like it was white bread. Plus due to its substantial weight and straight handle, it's easy to throw with great accuracy and is sure to explode any target with the most violent effect.

But will it work on wood? Or only people?

I'm also surprised to see new models of their unbalisong series.

HAHAHAHA...Oh man, what the hell are they smoking? That gives a pretty odd mental image...makes me think this will happen to everything you throw the axe at (graphic content):

Haha, who the hell would buy a non-returning boomerang?

Where I come from, we have a term for a boomerang that doesn't return. We call it a bent stick. :p

LMAO you guys are killing me!

Back to our program, XL Espada will be mine as soon as they hit the market. Always wanted one, just not the shiny Al version.

Hell yes.

Hell. Effing. YES.

I think the new Voyagers have hit that sweet spot in performance and affordability. I was sad to learn that they were not doing them in San Mai III as originally planned, but the stonewashed AUS8A should work wonderfully in its stead - at least they're not bead-blasted.

The Leatherneck looks slick too. Imagine a parallel universe in which Camillus was still around and this thing was released in Carbon V. :D

I'm also definitely going to get a large G-10 Espada. A nice, large knife that I can beat the hell out of without shame for marring its good looks. I just hope it doesn't have the same hyper-aggressive pocket-destroying G-10 that the Recons and Lawmen have.

Some cool new stuff. That Leatherneck is bound to be popular. Snip that top guard off and it becomes just about perfect. A cheap Outdoorsman is pretty sweet too, but I've never used that steel, so not sure about it yet.

I am probably gonna pick up;
Outdoorsman Lite (Probably a good forest Knife)
Medium Tanto Voyager (Heard good things about these, Never tried one)
Counter Point 1 (I love folding daggers!)
Large G10 Espada (Wicked Looking blade!)
