Thanks for posting that. Cold Steel always has some interesting stuff.

Thanks as well for posting.

Ummmmm. . . Smatchet, and looks fugly enough to take a beating!

Of course a mention as well to the Filipino-inspired barong machete.

Need me that XL Talwar!

All the stats can be found here. You can pull up the images for the specific items by entering the following in your address bar: http://www.coldsteel.com/images/products/xxxxx_m.jpg where the x's are replaced by the model number. There are a couple of items that don't have images available via that method yet.

The Code 4 folders are aluminum, not Ti. Will be interesting to see what else they unveil. I'm interested in the Barong Machete, Bowie Machete, and SMATCHET!!!!! Machete (:p) but not much else so far. The Code 4's could be good but I'd have to see the final product. The Talwars look decent as well. But the trench knife thingies and a lot of the other models are even more mall-ninja-esque than their usual offerings. Looks like the 2-handed Katana Machete is getting a longer blade but I'm unsure if that'll fix its atrocious harmonics issues.

Smat-chet! Smat-chet! Smat-chet! Smat-chet!

Edit: When I saw they had trademarked "Smatchet" I was really hoping it would be like the Trailmaster, seems like they're only pumping out machetes lately. I would have killed for a Smatchet in satin SK5.

The "Proof" video on the Warcraft is going to be absolutely ridiculous, considering it's CPM 3V versus their usual AUS8. I'm very well expecting Lynn C. Thompson to use it to cut through the crust of Earth.

I'm glad the "fighting" machetes are back. The 12" versions of these were more practical, so I hope they come back, too.

The Peace Makers had me thinking Mora 2000.

Looks interesting. Really digging that Large Talwar and the XL Recon looks cool too. Code 4 clip point kinda looks like a poor-man's Three Sisters Forge Super Beast.

Combine that with their prior release of the SurvivalEdge and I think they're trying to muscle in on the Mora-esque market. They're going to find that it's a hard uphill battle when their pitting Asia-made blades up against Swedish production. They'll never get the same perception of product that Mora does, but their distribution channels are stronger in the US so they'll reach places Mora doesn't.

I like the Talwar, Code 4, and Smatchet. Not sure how many more of their folders I will buy. Dare I hope that we will see new steel in a folder this yea?

They already had the Finn Bear out. These will probably be 4116 Krupp. Not really a substitute for carbon steel or Sandvik. Anyone looking for a Mora will still buy one; its hard to confused the two... I guess some people will prefer the guard on the CS version.
