Cold Steel 2013 Lineup/New Products

I like their bowie machete. I'll wait and see on the others. Their knives are shifting more and more towards fanatasy. I guess this must be the more profitable nitch. I hope they keep using Aus 8 for their value knives and start using more VG-1 and stonewash. I will not buy their Aus 8 bead-blasted knives or the Krup surgical steel due to the frequent rust complaints. Some of their new folders/knives look like bead-blasted/Krup steel; not good.

The ATC machete is a derivative of a Chinese Dadao. I reckon it will work similar to their 2 handed heavy machete, some kind of machete/axe hybrid.
 
Honestly the only things really making me excited are the counterpoint xl and the poleaxe(Naturally).

Just curious--did you hear that somewhere? To me it's more like an up-scaled version of their old "Light Machete" (corn knife) pattern with the handle of the two-handed Latin. I think it'll hit hard enough and all that, but the design looks like it'll be very vibration/shock prone.

Both the top and center ones look to be pattern welded. The top one looks like it was "hair-pin" forge welded, creating the more linear banding.

No, just an observation on my part. If CS holds to form, these machetes will be 3mm thick, and you're right... they will vibrate like a tuning fork.

These fantasy machetes are a little impractical, but they can be fun beaters, and allow you to get a taste of what certain swords are like, without the cost and maintenance.
 
I ain't holdin my breath on any of these. Reason being is that it seems to take CS much longer to release new products than other vendors. But do like the Talwar. keepem sharp
 
Hmmm... The only things that interest me are the Code 4 folders, and that is purely based upon aesthetics. Looking at the MSRP listed I would guess that blade steel is going to be something equal to or inferior to AUS-8A. If they would start using VG-1 again they might win me back as a customer.

If memory serves correctly you see that same forging welding method used on Tibetan stuff sometimes. :)
 
best pal and new-ish katana machete, wonder what the marauder looks like. I guess the pole axe is going to be like the one LT used to smash the Android tablet.
